rusticus,

$1000 fine per incident? Can Trump wipe his diapers with a thousand dollar bill before giving it to the court? When will this asshat have real accountability?

rusticus,

They should have done that a year ago when he bought Twitter. Now it’s too late - the momentum of Tesla’s demise will not be stopped even if they get rid of Musk.

rusticus,

You will always have the “wrong” kind of port for the life of the car. If you have NACS you need J1772 adapter to charge at some places. If you have CCS you need NACS adapter to charge at Tesla Superchargers. As someone that has both Tesla and Rivian, it’s not a big deal to put an adapter in your trunk and use it when you need it and you need an adapter for both cars. It. Doesn’t. Matter.

rusticus,

Yet.

Which is why I specifically said “for the life of the car”. Every car will need an adapter for at least the next decade.

South Dakota governor, a potential Trump running mate, writes in new book about killing her dog (apnews.com)

The Guardian obtained a copy of Noem’s soon-to-be released book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.” In it, she tells the story of the ill-fated Cricket, a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer she was training for pheasant hunting....

rusticus,

This. Dogs do aggressive things when they are stressed. Maybe the dog acted out due to all the beatings from the governor.

rusticus,

There are 38 US companies whose gross yearly revenue is over $100 billion. The collective amount OVER $100 billion is about the same as the US federal budget. No company should make more than $100 billion in revenue - it’s a monopolistic action. Tax all corporate revenue over $100 billion. How much is a variable amount based upon federal deficit spending. If the US government overspends $1 trillion then that amount is paid by these too large corporations. That way US politicians are disincentivized to over spend as the largest corporations will lobby strongly to have a balanced budget. If all US companies downsize or split off to reduce revenue to <$100 billion? Awesome, then we have no monopolies and their lobbying powers are therefore greatly diminished.

rusticus,

I don’t care of costs haven’t been taken out. Tax it at some low rate (ie 1-5%). Again, no company should revenue >$100 billion/year anyway because, as you’ve stated, it’s pretty much a monopoly at that point.

rusticus,

Bytedance announces to software developers: “Start your engines!”

rusticus,

lol you think “freedom of speech” includes foreign adversary right to harvest American citizen data?

rusticus,

Why are you being downvoted? You speak facts.

rusticus,

The obvious solution is to arm other dolphins with AR-15s.

rusticus,

The often repeated trope that the only country contributing to NATO is the US must stop. In fact, based upon percentage of GDP per capita, the US isn’t even #1! That award belongs to Poland. The US needs to strengthen its relationship with the EU for global stability, not weaken it. The EU’s contribution to NATO has increased dramatically and there are now 10 countries (mostly in Europe) who are at the stated and agreed upon goal of >2% of GDP spent on NATO. Trump will destroy our relationship with the EU and empower his multi-country pig sty of dictators. Only an idiot (or a dictator) would want that.

rusticus,

Friend, I’ve read this three times and still have no idea wtf you’re trying to say.

rusticus, (edited )

Yeah, but the best way to get something like this to improve is to make rich people suffer through it too.

Nothing like holding the lowest bar possible for TSA. Disband it. It’s never been shown to make anything safer. I have always argued that making thousands of people congregate in lines is a far greater security risk (firearm/explosive device) than anywhere else in the airport. And those lines are NOT screened for weapons at the airport entrance.

rusticus,

Agreed. Ban all of it, including TSA.

rusticus,

You’re forgetting the best option: disband TSA. It’s never been shown to improve safety and I have always argued it’s a greater security risk to congregate all the passengers (before screening) in a central location anyway.

rusticus,

Disband TSA. It’s never been shown to improve safety and I’ve always argued congregating all the passengers in one place before screening is the greatest security risk in the entire airport. Anybody could walk into the security lines with a gun or explosive device, causing maximal damage.

rusticus,

You obviously have not been on high speed trains in the EU

rusticus,

You’ve obviously never taken a high speed train in the EU.

rusticus,

You obviously have never taken a high speed train in the EU.

There is essentially zero security at the train stations in the EU. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

rusticus,

No we’re talking about risks and benefits of having or not having TSA, which was a knee jerk response to 9/11 which has become excessive. Trains have risk (Madrid 2004) yet have virtually no security. Any reasonable person would agree that the amount of security at airports is excessive and can be done in a much more efficient and safe manner.

rusticus,

Nothing you have said (which I agree with) disagrees with my comment. Clear only exists because TSA is terrible. Fix TSA and Clear goes away because no one will see value in it. In my airport, Clear is worse than preTSA and many have cancelled their Clear because a better option exists.

rusticus,

Which could easily be duplicated by metal detectors at the airport entrance. Without disrupting flow of passengers. At far less cost.

It is a security threat to have TSA lines in airports. Any terrorist could walk into the airport security line with a firearm or explosives and kill hundreds of people.

rusticus,

The US will never seize Russian assets because they are all on loan to the Republican Party.
