"All Dogs Go To Heaven" (1989) was on my library's streaming site and i am trying it, the vibe is amazing. i know i have seen this a million times as a kid and parts of it are burned into my memory, yet it also makes no fucking sense especially as a kid's movie
"permacomputing" is such a weird concept to me. like 95% of the message I hella agree with. reusing existing tech, being critical of tech application, yes please.
but permanence just feels like death. permanent computing feels like a desire to stick in the mud forever. we could keep writing programs forever without ever building another transistor but why the fuck?
why not let computers die and be reborn if necessary?
despite history book hagiographies, "invention" is not special.
@dragfyre i can understand preserving cultivars that have been bred over thousands of years to sustain human life, but there is no tech thing like that
I was hoping I could go a little longer this year without turning on the electric heat in the house, but I guess mid-October isn't the worst. Currently very cold and sleep deprived because my cat got into my bedroom and pissed on my bed yesterday (after the Laundromat closed) so I tried to overnight on the couch. Might be time to turn on the baseboard heaters for the season. In the meantime, perhaps a hot shower.
