to clear up the confusion,

"computing" is when the task you are engaged in is computation

"computering" is when the task you are engaged in is use and maintenance of a computer

hope that helps

"All Dogs Go To Heaven" (1989) was on my library's streaming site and i am trying it, the vibe is amazing. i know i have seen this a million times as a kid and parts of it are burned into my memory, yet it also makes no fucking sense especially as a kid's movie

#peertube folks be aware Amazon has a video scraper bot that seems capable of extreme bandwidth usage, it was sucking up half a gigabit for 6 hours last night on my server

if you aren't sure if something is education or entertainment: are the creators more worried about being wrong or being boring?

kinda furious that people just take it at face value when a text generator running from a read only database will "say" that it is "learning"

"permacomputing" is such a weird concept to me. like 95% of the message I hella agree with. reusing existing tech, being critical of tech application, yes please.

but permanence just feels like death. permanent computing feels like a desire to stick in the mud forever. we could keep writing programs forever without ever building another transistor but why the fuck?

why not let computers die and be reborn if necessary?

despite history book hagiographies, "invention" is not special.

@dragfyre i can understand preserving cultivars that have been bred over thousands of years to sustain human life, but there is no tech thing like that
