Voting isn’t about your likes and dislikes. It’s about choosing candidates from among whoever the system produces. Sitting out that process, for any reason, is simply making you complicit if the greater of two evils should win the election. That’s why Donald Trump was elected in 2016.

2028 is the next window for BIG change, and you can start organizing for your choices today, But for the moment, we’re simply trying to preserve what’s left of this foundering democracy.

difference between a catastrophic 2nd presidency of Donald Trump intent on realizing the far right’s ambition to GUT our government, from a relatively “normal” second term for Joe Biden, you may be someone prone to self-harm. Overapplied partisanship always annoys me. Someone on Bluesky found it amusing that I would use a Keith Ellison quote to promote voting for Biden. As if Ellison, despite his personal politics, won’t line up as a good democrat (which he typically has done), nor be a good citizen espousing common sense words about the realities of voting.

@notwithstanding But you’re still proposing something that is almost never possible: that criminals, corporations, industries and lunatics regulate themselves effectively. They never have and never will. So you’re proposing the unfeasible, when there are serious measures to be found in good governing that can regulate the excesses that make these Republican abuses of power and process possible. We just need a majority and the will to do it.
