New year new me?

Im changing jobs in the fall, which more than likely means I'll need to buy a computer. What's an economical way to get a machine with good battery life? I'm okay running Linux and really only need a browser and terminal text editor.

I love my old acer c720p with arch, my only gripe is the lack of ram. Im sure a newer chromebook would be perfect for it, especially if you go the cloudtop route.

There is also fydeOS which I haven't used personally but looks neat to run without google features.
