The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected appeals from three Republican U.S. House members who challenged fines for not wearing face coverings on the House floor in 2021....
On the one hand, those are some jackasses that should be fined. On the other hand the jackass caucus is going to be forever trying to use similar measures as a tool to interfere with the democratic process.
the people of South Dakota, not the politicians in Pierre, will be the ones to decide whether to restore Roe v. Wade as the law of South Dakota
This reminds that although abortion rights are the most important result of Roe v Wade, there are other rights that were abrogated when it was overturned. It’s hard to say all that was lost, and those generally won’t be recovered with these efforts.
Edit: A couple times I’ve said eBook while I actually meant Audiobook. I’ve learned that Spotify has a 15 hour limit per month for their free ‘included in premium’ audiobooks. However these are the two books I listened to for free, and even rounding up to 13 hours it doesn’t make sense, unless they count accidental...
It’s been a while since I had the opportunity for audiobooks, so those specifically I’m a little out of the loop. Audiobookbay was a thing at some point.
For e books… Z-library and/ or Anna’s archive. The reader I use is ReadEra premium, it can handle pretty much any format although default to pick is epub. I don’t think you really need to buy premium, I just did because I wanted to support them. I’ve been using it for forever with almost no problems. You can adjust the things you want (font, spacing, light/dark, etc), but the basic format when reading is very simple once you have it set up
Spotify is absolute ass for audiobooks and podcasts. I wish there was something better for streaming, although one of these days I’ll get around to self hosting. Maybe after retirement…
Anyway, for audiobooks I used “Voice Audiobook Player”, it’s free and open source, minimal permissions required.
For anyone wondering about podcasts, “Podcast Addict”. It has too many menus and options, can be confusing, but still a million times better than Spotify. Once you have it set up the way you want those options are very nice. Still confusing at times though :D
Same idea as immunotherapy shots or sublingual drops.
Whether it’s actually local, and if the allergens are actually concentrated enough to make any difference, is a very different question. Set of questions.
“You creating and mandating a plan for our future that doesn’t involve discussing my wants and needs shows that you don’t value them”
I don’t have any idea what the rest of your relationship is actually like. From the little here, sounds like you’re ready to move on, and so is she. If she’s giving you that ultimatum from another country she may also be hoping you do the hard part and break up with her, relieving her of whatever feelings of guilt that might be associated. Remember though… No guilt is necessary from either of you to move on. You want different things from the time that you have, and that’s ok.
The way people online constantly say ‘talk to your doctor’ like it’s a panacea is a lot like how medieval peasants weren’t able to read scripture and they just had to trust their clergy’s interpretations...
My favorite is when the question starts out with “I don’t have insurance and can’t afford to see a doctor, but I have dandruff and it just won’t go away”, and the first response is “I know you said you can’t afford it, but you should really just see a doctor”.
Like, sure, homeopathy is slightly better than snake oil because it doesn’t generally have random poison in it, so getting recommendations for that is worthless. But that doesn’t mean asking people who have been through similar things for advice is also worthless.
