All this social media talk reminds me of a UXResearch panel I listened to on how people really want to maintain distinct social media silos and will ultimately reject and spiral down in places where you are combining them. It mirrors our social landscapes IRL.

It gets weird and complex when you mix your business relationships with your close friends. Or family relationships with hobby spaces.

We used LinkedIn for work.
Facebook for IRL people - family, old friends.
Twitter for online friends, hobby niches, quickly paced, more ephemeral
Goodreads for booktalk.
Reddit for anon discussions that are async, potentially more detailed, easily referenced + archived

Of course, companies and people trying to sell you something are happy to combine everything into one place - less work for them. But more options = better for us.

I think for many, IG feels "safe" and I wonder what unraveling Threads will do to that space.

This weekend I managed to take some ok pictures of bees with my new camera :)

This is also how I learned that bees don't just wait for a flower to bloom, they WILL force it open to dive in for some sweet sweet pollen.

I went for a nature walk earlier but this time I brought a thermos of hot tea and this totally elevated the whole experience. Sipping on something warm while out in the chilly woods searching for spring ephemerals..highly recommend
