I accidentally broke the seal on this mystery item when I was unpacking it this morning. I decided to pay for it after my shift, partially bc I don't get to try everything there. It's pretty good! It's a sweet potato butter that has the consistency of apple butter or other jam-y type things. I think it would be good on a scone. It was ¥980 though 🥲

Thinking about the guy from the bar that didn't like Japanese bread... It kinda depends on the use case for the bread. Shokupan is perfect for tamago sando. I would also argue that it's good for BLTs. That said, the store varieties of bread kinda suck compared to bakeries but that's kind of universally true.

My chocolate somewhat flourless cake poofed up!

This is from a Chicanx recipe book but I didn't have all the ingredients. I made some substitutions with what I had in the apartment. Amaranth powder is expensive and I don't use it much, so I threw in some rice flour. I cut the honey with agave syrup in the pantry. No cocoa powder, so I used extra chocolate.

(Also I put in baking powder... shhh)
