I think #AI is at the stage where electricity was in the late 1800s. Tons of incompatible standards run by unregulated companies, people electrocuting themselves at their homes, and promises of electricity as the ultimate cure-all.
It has tremendous potential for the future but it absolutely has to be strongly regulated, and the worst excesses curbed.
@stooovie No the environment wasn't pristine - only in Europe. Other parts of the world had developed cultures to co-exist in relatively balanced harmony with the environment. I think it was pristine over here🙂
I have an #AI article writing tool that makes about 20 different API calls. Most of them are for generation but several of them use the #LLM for reasoning tasks. For example matching keywords to the article headings it would be most appropriate to write about them under, then returning a JSON.
I'm only a hobbyist but I'd say a couple of the prompts are pretty complex.
@TheServitor@GrantMeStrength yes but that's not the promise of the current AI hype, is it. I'm very curious what Copilot+ and all the AI stuff in Windows will ACTUALLY do. Right now it's all either statistical mimicking of already existing stuff, or bullding block toys for programmers. The moment you want something concrete, it all fails.
Seriously just Face ID in landscape and its speed is worth the price of admission. I would gladly keep my M1 Pro for years and years but after my 4yo bent it and my subsequent attempts at straightening it kind of fucked up the display I'm glad I didn't pinch pennies and opted for the latest.
The Session Players in new #Logic suck, BUT the instruments themselves are fantastic! It somehow adds the expression you'd expect to hear. Maybe finally my dream of intuitive MIDI orchestra will come true?
My dear friend Adam has long covid with me/cfs and now even his fucking Macbook has it!
His lasts like two hours tops of just browsing the web while my exact same 14" 2021 MBP easily does 3x or 4x as much. In fact I was exporting a 40m FCPX timeline yesterday and it only took like 9 % of battery, while taking 98 % of GPU.
FCPX has generally much tidier timelines because audio tracks are collapsed into a single clip, usually the video clip itself. This would look bonkers in Avid.
