superfes,

Which way is the right way… ? Asking for a friend…

superfes,

Good god, we’re no closer to AI anything than we were 50 years ago, the only thing that changed is the amount of CPU and storage we could allocate to the maths involved.

AI will never happen with the current models.

superfes,

If I ever get into smart home crap, I’ll definitely be aiming for a local network solution >_>

superfes,

Of all the garbage I was happy to not see on Lemmy…

superfes,

One of the first two albums I first was able to buy myself to start my collection after getting a WalkMan, man, those were the days.

And Justice For All gets more play from me, but I love this album.

Turbo 8 is dropping TypeScript (world.hey.com)

By all accounts, TypeScript has been a big success for Microsoft. I've seen loads of people sparkle with joy from dousing JavaScript with explicit types that can be checked by a compiler. But I've never been a fan. Not after giving it five minutes, not after giving it five years. So it's with great pleasure that I can announce...

superfes,

Cool, Typescript is basically useless.

superfes,

Not FOSS, but I use Obsidian, and is FOSS, SyncThing for syncing.

There are FOSS Markdown editors of course, I just prefer Obsidian.

superfes,

You say that like you can listen to the lyrics instead…

superfes,

This is the best description of Manwich I have ever consumed with my eyeballs.

superfes,

I use btrfs and have never run into FS issues with Steam. Hopefully the format isn’t actually a problem for anybody else either.

superfes,

Perhaps, stop voting for people that deny climate change could be a good start.

superfes,

Three hail Mary’s or whatever, and pick up some trash around your neighborhood. Then your sins will be forgiven.

superfes,

Not sure I can be trusted…

superfes,

I’m totally with Brandon on this one, except cancelling Fall, that’s right out!

superfes,

Maybe not ever, I’m hopeful for lab grown meat to be a success AND be good for the environment.

superfes,

Goddamn, we live in a depressing world sometimes.

Google employee responds to all the negative feedback WEI, (google drm the web) (github.com)

Hey everyone, thank you for your patience, and thank you to everyone who engaged constructively. It is clear based on the feedback we’ve received that a bigger discussion needs to take place, and I’m not sure my personal repository is the best place to do that - we are looking for a better forum and will update when we have...

superfes, (edited )

Hardware backed attestation isn’t about security or privacy, if you can’t pass SafetyNet on your Android device you can’t install certain apps, but even with stock software and passing SafetyNet you can still install malware direct from the App Store, it’s about vendor lock in, always has been.

Edit: Clarified my point.

Is Tidal/Deezer worth it?

Hello, everybody, I’ve been thinking to move on from my Spotify subscription to move to Tidal or Deezer. I want to try out HIFI audio, but still get a good and stable experience. Are there any suggestions for which one I should pick? Could you also tell about your experience with those apps, or are there any other you would...

superfes,

I’ve been using Deezer for almost 3 months, and I used Tidal for about the same amount of time in the not too distant past.

I gave up on Tidal because they didn’t have the music I am looking for, and that’s okay, plus, their app was kinda bad.

I’m about to cancel my Deezer sub, the app is fantastic, I’ve loved being with Deezer, but there content is constantly running into dead ends, their AI player is really neat, but needs much love to become awesome.

Anyways, I hate Spotify, especially their UI, but we have a family plan.

I’m always on the lookout for music apps/subscriptions that are awesome, but like someone already commented, I am starting to feel like PlexAmp may be my future.

superfes,

According to Nintendo, this is already the case with games you play.

superfes,

I read somewhere that capsaicin is a handy squirrel deterrent, as birds cannot taste it or something.

Here's an article about it https://secretaardvark.com/blog/the-hot-sauce-hack-squirrels-dont-want-you-to-know/

superfes,

I don't get it, if 3PA is only 1% of the traffic, why even bother murdering them?

superfes,

Man, I read your word vomit like 4 times, I believe you are right about all of it.

I read all of the apps threads about why they're quitting on the 30th, for Apolo which has already charged its users he would have to foot the costs the whole time until the next subscription re-up for many/most of his users, and we're supposed to believe the reddit guys?

For others, even the ones that want to make it work with added subscriptions, the lack of full reddit access via the API makes one wonder, what's the point of even trying?

Reddit has been an awful site for nearly 20 years, the only thing that made it usable was third party apps.

I'm not sure I'm going to miss it, I hated it before 3PA, and I'm willing to hate it again now.

The only thing I'm going to miss is world news updates and stuff that is here, the volume is basically muted in comparison.
