When you’re crossing the bifröst you should always get “Walking on Sunshine” as your theme music.

@renwillis I think it’s gonna be great, should cause a real surge for other restaurants.

Since my usually productive search skills have failed me, does anyone know of a list of “important” songs in popular music history? I’m not necessarily looking for the best or most popular (though I assume there would be some overlap), and it doesn’t have to be entirely objective, but I’d love to read such a listicle.

Just spent far too long trying to figure out why FaceID wasn’t working for me. Turns out I was smiling.

Experimenting with an actual photo of me for a profile pic. Feels vulnerable, feeling exposed.

    @renwillis Yes. And, as usual, “divided” means “a large portion is just wrong”.

    @renwillis One of the hardest for me, too. Had to be someone I’d like to forget enough to be sincere with the choice, but not so much that it sent me into a dark place. Tough choice!

    @renwillis At least it has the benefit of being a wonderful song. 😊 Mine was by Barenaked Ladies. 😬

    Look, buddy, all I’m saying is that with bumper stickers that say, “The universe doesn’t care about your feelings,” and “Who is John Galt?” plus a disabled placard you’re making people give some second looks.

    @renwillis Same, but one thing making me mildly curious is the “Mr. Beast Burger” that keeps being advertised on DoorDash and looks disgustingly delicious.

    I think we're going to see more and more of this with Mac apps. Pocket is abandoning its native Mac app for its iPad app running in compatibility mode on Apple silicon Macs.

    Your other choice - the web.

    @gruber @marcoarment @johnvoorhees The Pocket macOS app was worse than the browser IMO. It was never on par with the iOS app. However, the macOS app has not been updated in some time, which at least meant it lacked the newer focus on “recommended” content.

    @renwillis Snickers is my go to, but my all time favorite, bar none, is Bar None.

    @renwillis Love Kit-Kats, but the Bar None has this surprisingly deep (not dark, just rich) chocolate flavor that’s hard to match.

    Nostalgia isn’t real?

    @alternativenation

    I’m still shocked by how much the listening habits of random neighbors during my formative years shaped my knowledge of the era’s popular music.

    Did you know there are people who were alive in the 90’s that don’t know all the tracks on Rancid’s … And Out Come the Wolves?

    @renwillis For “pitch”, can I assume you mean to potential funders rather than to potential players? If that’s the case, I’d imagine pointing out their historical addictiveness and profitability would be easiest. (The other option I’ve heard given in the past is that “users crave things they can control”, which TBH is why I love such games.)

    therealchjones,
    @therealchjones@mastodon.online avatar

    @renwillis Much harder to convince gamers I’d guess—at least those who haven’t tried or didn’t like such games. I’m no expert, just love these types of games. Personally, I’d want to see the pitch emphasize:

    • customization (of your boat, city, island, etc.)
    • options (“Choose from over 300 different hats!”)
    • goal variability (both common and rare animals, resources, methods of trade/gathering/using resources)

    All, unfortunately, good for those who already like this genre.
