I have a cranky #realist outer shell surrounding a gooey inner #idealist core. That's why I play the #PrisonersDilemma to lose. I believe eventually we'll win.
My position on guillotine imagery and sabre rattling at oligarchs is — amusingly — expressed best by Ali Wong:
"…we just wanna experience some risk and be out of control, you know? Like, “I don’t wanna die! Don’t kill me! I don’t wanna die!” But I also don’t want to be sure that I’m gonna live. You know? I just wanna be out of control for once. Just– Just choke me enough so that I can’t talk. ‘Cause if I can talk, I’m gonna tell you what to do."
Don't kill them. I don't want them to die. Don't murder them. But I also don't want them to be sure they're gonna live. I just wanna have them out of control for once.

If #Boeing execs keep feeling sure they're going to live, they're going to keep killing #whistleblowers. It won't stop with Boeing. Remember that time Elon tried to have police murder a Tesla whistleblower. He won't be coy next time, he'll just order a hit.
#Boeing is killing whistleblowers like they're #Russian dissidents, so please DO keep with the #guillotine imagery. The oligarchs are afraid. That's why they're killing us. They need to be more afraid, though.
As far as #Boeing executives go, we're past the point of intimidation. Some Boeing execs and probably some #shareholders need to die to make this right. They aren't going to stop killing us otherwise.
"Okay, so you agree the billionaire oligarchs had the whistleblowers murdered. Thanks for making that clear."
No, that's just you lying. I'm more of an "innocent until proven guilty" sort of guy. I understand that YOU think this, but again, you've just established yourself as a liar. Have the last word, if you like.
Any #paywall blockers keeping up with Bloomberg in this arms race? Paywalled and #Bloomberg uses countermeasures to prevent the #InternetArchive from archiving the news for historians and posterity.
I've soured on (probable) Russian oligarch funded Archive(.)today
I will also ask on the #LibrarySocialism message board I joined, but I'm curious about the answer from Fedi folks. I see mention of #Libertarian#Socialism within LibrarySocialism circles. What is the connection? Did one spring from the other? Common cause? Rebranding for better optics?
The possibility of that last one has me cautious. If this is another TESCREAL offshoot then I have concerns. I don't get that vibe from the SRSLY WRONG folks behind the forum, but I'm also brand new to this.
#Trump routinely has enemies killed, enabled by the #FBI. #Boeing unexisted a whistleblower. Deans of journalism at universities who decry attrocities are silenced.
This is what living in a #mafia state feels like. #Russia had it worse in the '90s than we'll have it, but it's the same gameplan: mob corruption, dismantle everything, sell it for parts.
There's no escaping a lot of suffering now. We've been abdicating democracy to unworthy champions. Time to buckle up and do the work ourselves.
DeJoy is a dismantler. Buttigieg is a '90s gay Republican. The USPS and NTSB are failing. Compare to the vibrant FTC and remember what to expect from a functional government that serves the public.
The "Low Data Mode" features to the contrary — NO the tech companies don't actually care NOR did they actually solve the problem for folks on metered connections. They checked a compliance box and called it done. The assumption that bandwidth and data are so cheap and limitless as to be free permeates my industry. Always on is assumed and folks who try and deviate suffer.
A single misconfigured device autodownloading an OS or app or game update will blow through a monthly #Internet allotment.
For example, #Netflix only began caring about low-bandwidth and metered use cases (and finally implemented an offline viewing feature) ONLY after deciding to focus on the market in India.
It is impossible, without having a tech savvy helper, to operate a home network that WON'T blow through your monthly bandwidth allotment. You need a personal network engineer.
Where always on #broadband is assumed you exceed your allotment you get shunted to an artificially limited bitrate. The majority of the Internet for your market becomes unusable. YouTube literally disconnects slow connections. NO downloading for later viewing for you, Madam or Sir!
The bloat promugulated by Web frameworks du jour ensure that a sizeable chunk of websites are nothing you care about; your content is rendered last after React has reconstituted itself in your browser VM.

I relaxed most of my domain blocks on this and my other ALTs a while ago, but these I kept in my denylist. Reviewing that list is what prompted me to post in the first place.
Crummy that #PBS uses dark patterns to try and get you to buy Ken Burns documentaries that are available to stream or download from their own site. It's one thing to promote DVD merch or provide a link to it on iTunes. It's a whole different thing to intentionally bury the free public access.
Persist and find the Season 1 list and you're on your way to finding the episode page where you can stream it or download via:
I've got S01E01 of "The U.S. and the Holocaust" ready to go in my home media server. Hopefully this works for the other Ken Burns docs since I don't trust PBS to resist disappearing these for real someday.
