Crummy that #PBS uses dark patterns to try and get you to buy Ken Burns documentaries that are available to stream or download from their own site. It's one thing to promote DVD merch or provide a link to it on iTunes. It's a whole different thing to intentionally bury the free public access.

@DoomsdaysCW Watched #AmericanBuffalo by #KenBurns last night and it makes me mad enough that I want to go back in time and hunt down whomever created the perverse incentives to #extinct the Buffalo.

#KenBurns has made a statement after a photo surfaced of the documentary filmmaker w/ #SCOTUS justice Clarence Thomas & billionaire David Koch. While #Koch has funded one of Burns’ documentaries, Burns maintains that he & the Supreme Court Justice have no connections or relationship.
“Around 10 yrs ago, Ken was stopped & asked to take a photograph with a #SCOTUS Justice & David Koch, who was a supporter of public television & would later provide some funding for his film, ‘The Vietnam War.’ So he took the photo, as he has done with many, many others. Other than the taking of that photograph & innocuous pleasantries, that’s the extent of his contact with Justice Thomas,” a spokesperson for #KenBurns said in a statement to Variety.
I can see that. This is how I felt before listening to #Maddow's #podcast series #Ultra, but having already watched the excellent #PBS documentary series, #TheUSandTheHolocaust by #KenBurns*, which makes it a lot easier visualizing things from the podcast and having the #European theater of war during #WWII as the grand background theme.
I can tell you this, I have listened to the pod twice already. Now, I think I really understand...
However, as I am presently listening to #RachelMaddows's great #podcast series, #Ultra, for a 2nd time, I need to tell you that "#America" (i.e. the #US), has been much more stupid not even 100 years earlier.
What is more, as happened with #WarOfTheWorlds while being broadcast on the #radio, I would have thought it to be fiction.
I have always loved #history, but I had not heard of this almost worse coup d'état than...
Even though they had mentioned it in the #PBS series, #USAndTheHolocaust by #KenBurns, the full extent did not become clear to me until having listened to the pod.
