Unfortunately unless a revolution falls into our laps and magically solves all our problems, the modicum of control we have over the steering of this ship is limited to voting and advocating for others to vote
If authoritarian dictators can do whatever they want via nuclear blackmail, we’re already all doomed anyway
The world will be split into two camps: countries with nukes or otherwise under some sort of nuclear umbrella, and countries who are desperately rapidly developing a nuclear program, the third group who doesn’t have nukes and isn’t rushing to develop them will have already been annexed by the first group
And if every country on earth suddenly starts playing a hand, someone is going to bust, so pick your poison I guess
Appease thugs with nukes and proliferate nuclear weapons around the world adding dozens more dice to be cast every conflict, or call their bluff and risk them actually using them
Man this is your own analogy, do I really gotta explain it
If everyone is suddenly playing at the nuclear poker table, the chances of SOMEONE going all in each hand drastically increases, and if any one singular player goes bust, we ALL lose because the damn table explodes
Appeasement just kicks the can down the road (and makes things much worse in the future), it’s vital that we not make playing nuclear poker appealing by letting countries get away with shit even if they do have nukes
If you’re going to struggle this hard to follow along with expansions of your own analogies it would probably be best if you stopped using them, it’s just making it harder on everyone else
The city is on fire and people are arguing whether we should vote for the shitty fire fighter in the fire chief election when the only other candidate is literally an arsonist
I remember the Taliban bitching that all the materiel (helicopters, humvees, etc) the US left behind at the airport had had grenades detonated in their engine compartments
I don’t think they’re fascist, just selfish in most cases. They take the “me” in “Don’t tread on me” too literally, and only care about their own rights and their own needs, fuck everyone else’s.
Their Venn diagram of “Things the government should provide/allow people to do” and “Things I personally need/want to do” is just a circle, and they won’t lift a finger to try to shape the government to work well for anyone else.
Probably 99% of self described libertarians don’t know anything about that, or actual libertarian rhetoric in general, they just want to smoke weed and not pay taxes for stuff that doesn’t personally benefit them and they think that’s what libertarianism is
Basically, do you want an abandoned ruin rotting away in a field, or do you want a building that people will continue to live in and take care of into the future?

Netplay isn’t exactly ideal, as from what I understand it generally requires the syncing of all players emulated console hardware simultaneously (basically, every emulator tricks the game into thinking they’re all being played on one single console), which is a lot harder to reliably achieve than having native netcode to handle multiplayer
My instance is defederated with them, and most of the (politically) negative interactions I’ve had with people from other instances, I check hexbear, and so far 100% of the time they have an account with the same name there
The double standards are blatantly obvious, criticizing the CCP in basically any way is “xenophobia” but criticizing the US government is almost a participation requirement
