Discover - possible to limit download speed?

Hi, sadly I have a very limited internet connection (10 Mbit). When I’m watching a video and then install something in Discover, it takes almost all the bandwidth and the video begins to stutter & buffer. Somebody knows if there’s a way to limit the download speed for discover - preferably without installing additional...

tun,

Look into Bufferbloat and SQM.

One way is to replace your router with a router with good SQM (smart queue management). You can find recommended router at www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat

tun,

Not for OP.

I usually use Adminer instead of phpMyAdmin.

Adminer (formerly phpMinAdmin) is a full-featured database management tool written in PHP. Conversely to phpMyAdmin, it consist of a single file ready to deploy to the target server. Adminer is available for MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MS SQL, Oracle, Elasticsearch, MongoDB and others via plugin

tun,

Without knowing my arch installation has xz 5.6.1-2

tun,

I should have seen this before I bought my Samsung TV.

tun,

open source (AGPL)

May I know where do you host the source?

Any bookmarking solution?

I need a bookmark syncing service for managing bookmarks Requirements:- 1 Independent (Nextcloud bookmarks are really slow) 2 Web client (Reason of rejecting xbrowsersync) 3 Should be bookmark management ,not read it later 4 Should not be self-hosted or if it is self-hostable then must have some server for free account (I cant...

tun,

Look into hosting linkding on fly.io free account.

tun,

I am on Voyager Android and the video in the comment plays fine for me.

tun,

I think I spelt haptic as heptic and auto correct kicked in.

I have fixed it. Thanks!

tun,

The basic concept is the same. The URL you provide is specifically for Windows.

Check the Arch wiki on SSH keys to achieve what you want. It applies to other Linux distros

Like mastondon.world admin said, you can always block the threads.net at user level.

The instance itself will wait and see.

We won’t pre-emptively defederate from Threads. Users can themselves decide to block threads. (If we were to defederate, users can’t anymore decide to un-block themselves.)

We will keep a close eye on all developments with Threads joining the Fediverse, and when we see trouble, we might reconsider this statement.

Edit: mastodon.world not mastodon.social

tun,

Wait and see is what I wrote. I added the text from the original toot.

tun,

You should read the trash guide.

tun,

The quoted rule seems to come from the Plex.tv. And the forum threat said first four rules are irrelevant these days.

The first 4 ‘rules’ generally are no longer as important as they once were, but may still be a good thing to bear in mind.

And I want OP to know that

shame that most x265 groups microsize the releases or use the x264 as source what results in low quality releases. And the few groups that do use the correct source suffer from it.

tun,

Do you know howlongtobeat.com ?

Experienced player will surely give you better answer. But the website could give you a ballpark estimate.

tun,

Simple maths also say so approximately.

It will also depend on the style of play completionist, main story only, main+side, etc.

Actually I haven’t play FF XVI yet. So “I don’t know” will be my best answer.

Lemmy.world no longer federating with Kbin? If yes, why?? (Kbin's spam issue is gone)

Hey! A kbin user here, just logged in to my lemmy.world dummy account to ask this, I’ve noticed communities like m/AskKbin, m/Cars, M/RedditMigration and etc are not federating at all with Kbin anymore, I am not sure if this is just an issue from my side, a bug or did lemmy.world mods really decide to not federate with Kbin??...

tun,

From lemm.ee instance !cars has 0 subscribers and 0 posts.

tun,

When I link to cars magazine from lemmy it should be kbin.social/m/cars but appeared as kbin.social/c/cars which does not exists.

Other Redditmigration and breathofthewild links do not have this problem.

tun, (edited )

Lemmy server did what I said.

When I use !cars the link produced by Lemmy is not correct.

When I use !breathofthewild the link produced by Lemmy is correct.

Please see the screenshot and note the URLs

https://files.catbox.moe/kx92yr.jpg

Edit: happened yesterday. Not happening now. Both links produced incorrect url.

Edit 2: your reply in the screenshot.

tun,

“you-know-which-site” has already archived the page. I love that site.

tun,

I didn’t use any API account (opensubtutle was still free and open to public).

  1. most of the time I got a hit (subliminal supports many sites with API access)
  2. If missed, I check the file with mediainfo and check fps.
  3. If there is release info and fps, I manually downloaded by searching with FPS.
  4. If fps is correct and timing is out I use subler to correct the time after manually syncing time with VLC or MPV

These days, *arr setup (according to trash guide) and Plex pass automatically get me the subtitles.

tun,

In my country, people who fasten the seatbelt are aliens. You have to explain yourself why you are fastening the seatbelt.
