I’ve been through a hell of a week. I won’t share any further details atm, but I had to go get bloodwork in the community today.

The phlebotomist saw my arms and immediately realized I’d been through it. Multiple IVs and other pokes. He was so kind, gentle, and patient with me. Quickly, he did a very gentle poke… and I thanked him for using a butterfly needle. He replied, “I can see you’ve been through so much, of course!”

That kindness nearly brought me to tears.

I have a life announcement! 📣

I’m going back to University! ( At 37! )

The program is self paced, online and all of my accessibility accommodations have been approved!

I’m excited to be able to take asynchronous courses in a supportive environment.

Day 1 is May 1st!
I’m studying Psychology & Philosophy.

I plan to attend Graduate School afterwards and become a Registered Psychologist in Alberta so I can do Autism assessments (and more), and provide a safe place for folks. 🏳️‍🌈

@britt That's a great question. When I was doing full time massage, I was curious about studying to do physical therapy. Part of me would love to go back for another music degree, maybe composition or music production. Or something completely different: creative writing, maybe? Orrrr...it's been suggested that I'd make a great counselor/therapist, too. 🤷

It would be such a fun decision to explore if I knew I could afford it in time and money. I'm glad you've got such a great opportunity!

I usually hate winter time… but…

I absolutely loved it in Edmonton this year! Having the sun out nearly every day, even with short days was wonderful.

I have always enjoyed colder weather over warmer weather and my health conditions are better outside of the heat too…

Me, 10 years ago.

I was still living just outside of San Francisco. I was working in business… doing the Bay Area business things of 2014.

What do I notice the most? Energy. Hope. Youth. Less pain. Less mental struggle.

Do I miss it? Yes.
Would I lose the wisdom and the people I’ve gained since in a trade? Never.

Perspective is everything. 💜☀️

I hope April ushers in great things for all of you as we turn yet another chapter together on this spinning globe. 🌎

Knowing I’m living with a painful autoimmune disease and the only way to ‘improve’ my symptoms and slow down the progression is…. to suppress the immune system.

@britt I was told I couldn't join Girl Scouts because the troop was "too big" but I've always felt it was because I was such a big tomboy and maybe there was homophobia going on (even though I didn't figure out I was gay until age 19).

@britt Yep! It's pretty straightforward. As I recall it made my arm sore like most shots do, but I don't think I had any symptoms at the time, though I expect these days I'd feel a little run down afterward.

Phew! My appointment went great today, an excellent specialist doctor. Wonderful consult. I’m very happy with my overall healthcare here, it’s just night and day. ❤️

New diagnosis acquired.
New medication acquired. (Am nervous)

I’ll have monthly bloodwork and regular follow ups.

I’m feeling so grateful, even despite the car stress stuff that needs to be resolved. 🤩🙌

@britt It's been a cozy day, yes. I barely even had to go to the garage. I'm worried that my car won't start when I need it; battery has been struggling lately. But mine isn't the only vehicle in the family so I'd be okay if push came to shove.
