@partim Klar fuhren damals viel weniger Regionalzüge. Der Hauptgrund dürfte aber sein, dass die schnellen ICs früher in Hamm durchgefahren sind. 😉

@jon It's a classic IC at the moment, but will become an ICE in September. First date of operation seems to be Sep 13.

@jon @kupfers @vonneudeck This ICE is part of IC line 55 which connects Dresden and Stuttgart via Cologne and Koblenz every 2h. That line used to terminate in Cologne, but has recently been prolonged to Stuttgart, taking over the south part of line 31 from Hamburg, the other part being taken over by ICE line 43 from Basel, which has been extended to Hamburg.

This is part of an effort of DB to streamline operations through the Rhein-Ruhr area making less trains reverse in Cologne or Dortmund.

@jon @kupfers @vonneudeck Now as for why DB decided to put an ICE on this line, while all other trains on this line are served by IC 2 units, I have no idea. But at least, this means we have a proper BordRestaurant on this train.

@kupfers @jon @vonneudeck One problem I see with ICEs running on IC lines is that commuters with passes valid on IC trains cannot use these trains.

@jon Here, they say that Deutschlandticket is valid everywhere where "Deutschlandtarif" is valid. Does that include border points? 🤔

@jon @NymeHess @elba013 @Albert180 @AndiBarth But this is a Passzuschlag ticket, which is technically not a ticket from Aachen Süd (Gr) to Hergenrath, but one from Aachen Hbf to Hergenrath with 100% discount for the section from Aachen to Aachen Süd (Gr). 😂
