ursakhiin,

I always love this guy’s videos on this stuff. It’s a true lens into how different our priorities are in a living space.

ursakhiin,

It’s it possible the meme isn’t as good as you think it is?

ursakhiin,

Your point stands but The Elder Scrolls Online doesn’t count. The game studio is completely different and its akin to comparing an id game.

ursakhiin,

To some degree, yes. Very few people are playing Skyrim in it’s vanilla format, these days. The same is likely true of Fallout 4.

I enjoyed Starfield but it’s definitely missing something Skyrim had which made me continue playing after I completed the MSQ.

I’ve put close to 500 hours into vanilla Cyberpunk but only around 80 into Starfield. My classic Skyrim, which I did play mostly vanilla, was roughly 250 hours. Where special edition is around 1500 hours purely due to mods.

But I already know I’m not chomping at the bit to mod Starfield like I was other games.

ursakhiin,

To be clear here, I actively hate what Tucker does. He’s a symptom of a great sickness to society that causes more harm then anything else.

The only part of this that is Carlsons fault is that he took the interview and went to Russia. There’s no other way this would have played out when a reporter does an interview of Putin. Carlson was likely in that room with nothing but Russian agents who let him know exactly what was going to happen before the interview.

Anything else could have easily resulted in Carlson never coming home.

ursakhiin,

The reason he took the interview doesn’t matter, that decision is his fault. Even if kompromat, he did something he wants to hide in that case.

But the moment the interview was announced, we should have been expecting this exact thing.

ursakhiin,

My money is on its not pushing Pro hard enough.

ursakhiin,

This doesn’t mean they aren’t. Just that we don’t have proof yet.

ursakhiin,

It’s been my experience that the .NET developer will miss the actual statement and take it as an assault on .NET being the best solution for every use case.

ursakhiin,

Swift has been getting crap for the overuse of her jet for a couple of years now, this isn’t new. She’s been found to be one of the most prolific flyers nearing if not topping the list. It’s also been found that she is flying extremely frequently when she’s not on tour. Last number I saw estimated near 3 times a week at the most to fly back and forth to see a boyfriend that she could have driven to.

It’s fine to say that it’s all for security, but she’s been flaunting it for a long while and any idea that she’s including members of her tour or entourage on her jet is complete speculation. At a certain point we have to accept that she doesn’t actually care about the environment. Which is fine, she’s a billionaire and very few of them if any really do.

ursakhiin,

A program that works right but doesn’t solve the problem is also not very useful.

ursakhiin,

I’m thinking the game may just not be for you. You’re describing the cinematics that help build immersion into the character and situation as though they are a hassle.

ursakhiin,

I think Python is easy to learn but difficult to get past the basics. I’m also not convinced that getting past the basics is even worth it in three long run. I say this as a person who has used all Python at work for roughly 70 percent of the last 15 years. My current position is moving to Rust and my last 2 positions were moving to Go. Everybody was happier.

ursakhiin,

Learn to learn new languages quickly. You don’t need to be an expert in every language you need to recognize the pros and cons of different languages the same way you would with any tool.

Don’t get hung up on one language. It shouldn’t matter what language a job is in if you build the ability to learn a new language fairly quickly.

ursakhiin,

This. Many devs will never even meet their Product Manager because they are “too high level to be needed in technical calls”.

Translated to “I only want to tell people how much money this is going to make them without even knowing what it does”

ursakhiin,

If this guy only has 600 hours, he wasted his money. I’d expect this guy to have closer to 6000 at this point.

ursakhiin,

This. C# has been losing momentum for years but some people just won’t see it. I think Microsoft trying to move 365 of of it is just another big flag that devs need to start looking elsewhere.

Microsoft has been pretty open that they intend to move to Rust. They are currently re-building the Windows API in Rust as well. I do expect they will try to push .NET in that world which will be a bummer.

ursakhiin,

When I see “not looking to” in this context it just tells me Tencent hasn’t offer enough money at this time.

ursakhiin,

Anybody who doesn’t think the Confederacy had a lasting impact that we are still feeling today isn’t paying attention. I get that it’s a meme but don’t ignore reality for the sake of a joke.

The end of the Civil War resulted in multiple Confederate politicians keeping their jobs and setting post war policy as well as being involved in the drafting of the amendments to the Constitution that set ex-slaves conditions of freedom.

The civil rights movement was largely necessary because Confederate states were allowed to push for policies that set ex-slaves up for failure from the get go.

I also won’t call the Confederacy truly dead until I stop seeing assholes waving over of their flags around.

ursakhiin,

Something I’m not seeing here is many people in the cyber and info security spaces will have a homelab capable of complex configurations in order to mimic enterprise environments for their research.

This could be as simple as a single VM or as complex as multiple segregated networks to try to traverse.

How Do I Avoid Giving Home Address to Bank?

I’ve heard of things like iPostal and Traveling Mailbox. Do these services allow you to register with bank, DMV, IRS, Voting, etc? How do they work? Would a normal P.O box using its physical address from USPS work? I’ve tried researching it and haven’t gotten clear answers....

ursakhiin,

Unless your government id has a PO box on it you’re likely not going to get the results you’re looking for. As somebody else mentioned, that info is public record.

ursakhiin,

Daisy Ridley is far from making the list of things the sequels did poorly. She herself would be on the list of positives. JJ on the other hand…

It’s very sad that she people can’t separate the actors from a story. The actors very rarely have anything to do with the story on screen. The only thing they control is their performance.

I hope she pulls down some big roles that leave a more positive experience for her.

ursakhiin,

Back in my day we just looked at photoshopped pictures of celebrities like respectable men!

ursakhiin,

I will say that Apple is 100 percent collecting your data. Health, financial, biometric, anything you put in an Apple Device is subject. Like most large companies, the are probably also purchasing profile data from Acxiom and Experian.

I don’t know if they are doing it with this service but Apple is definitely not respecting your privacy. If you are concerned about privacy, you’re better off trying to use more specialized tools for a job than any singular ecosystem. Apple wants everybody to be in their single ecosystem to better build profiles in their systems.
