w3dd1e,

While I’d prefer the do that also, I think the issue is that Google pays them so much, they couldn’t afford to exist without it.

w3dd1e,

I work in commercial loans for a living. I can’t speak to other properties that aren’t securitized, but they can’t exactly just take your property without approval. there are exceptions to the rule but it would still require a lengthy and pricey legal process.

w3dd1e,

TLDR; Fandom has a lot of QAnon articles written to make the scams seem legitimate to less computer savvy people.

My mom has fallen in a Qanon conspiracy world. The people from that world write Fandom articles about themselves to make it seem legitimate. I found them when I started investigating these people trying to convince her to steer clear.

I don’t trust a single thing on Fandom anymore.

w3dd1e,

I just got one for around $600 in the US on Swappa. I tried to get one cheaper but couldn’t find it where I lived. Anyway, I’m super happy with it. I made sure it was a low number of battery cycles and it’s in near mint condition.

The other day, I was coding in VSStudio, debugging JavaScript in Chrome with multiple tabs open, and logging issues I found on a template in Excel. Excel alone makes my work computer freeze and I didn’t notice a single slow down on this thing. It was fantastic.

I don’t love the way Mac handles open-window management but aside from that I’m very happy.

w3dd1e,

Thanks! I hadn’t looked into this, but I think this would work, especially since mostly, I just want to write code from my living room or outside and not sit at my desk all day.

I have a keyboard attachment for my iPad so this would probably work perfectly.

Frustrations with CSS Flexbox

I’m struggling with CSS Flexbox. Each time I think I’m about to get it in an aha momet, I’m actually two steps backwards. I’m taking The Odin Project course and I’m at the phase where I am building the landing page. I’ve worked on it for 16 straight hours and I’m almost finished. It just looks like shit on a small...

w3dd1e,

Yo! I’m in exactly the same place in my Odin Project curriculum. I’m also actually doing OpenClassrooms bootcamp (through my employer). I didn’t struggle too much with flex (except in column format. It’s so bad.) feel free to DM me and chat about it if you want a project partner! I’m on discord too. Same username.

w3dd1e,

I was talking to my teacher about how annoying flex box columns are and he was saying it wasn’t designed with columns in mind and he expects it to be updated in some future version of CSS. But until then, it depends how you want the box to grow/shrink.

I also found, you can trick it into a column while still using a row if you give the items a 100% width of their container and let them wrap to the next row. It might not always be right to do that, but it could probably work in some situations if it’s not going well in column format.

Good luck!

w3dd1e,

Yeah. It happened to me too. And they wouldn’t let me use the full ink cartridge I had because it was tied to the subscription. I had to go buy a completely separate ink cartridge and disconnect some other thing to print a stupid form. Fuck HP

I think the average person just simply doesn't care about their privacy.

In some of the music communities I’m in the content creators are already telling their userbase to go follow them on threads. They’re all talking about some kind of beef between Elon and Mark and the possibility of a boxing match… Mark was right to call the people he’s leaching off of fucking idiots.

w3dd1e,

It’s like music streaming. The streaming quality is worse and wireless earbuds don’t sound great, but the convenience of it all made that industry huge.

Convenience over quality.

w3dd1e,

My dog ate some once. I hope he awoke from the simulation and is in a better place.

Jk, he’s fine. (He did eat silica gel once though)

KVM Switch Help/Recommendations

I need a KVM switch or some kind of USB hub that allows me to share a single keyboard and mouse between two computers. The problem is, one of those computers is for work and I have very limited access to the system settings, and I can't install software. The problem is that it causes the keyboard to constantly disconnect and...

w3dd1e,

What is the saying? All diets work. A diet cuts calories in one way or another. It’s about finding the diet that works for you and your lifestyle.

w3dd1e,

Wool was great. And the show was good too. You can basically watch the first season after finishing Wool, if you’d like.

I’m reading He Who Fights With Monsters but I’m going to dig through this thread and find a good scifi novel to read next!

w3dd1e,

I completely agree with you. I want to use Mastodon by the barrier to entry and use is just so high. I find myself closing the app as soon as I open it.

w3dd1e,

Star Wars is not good, for the most part. There are a couple good movies and shows, but the majority of Star Wars is not good at all.

Rian Johnson’s movie didn’t deserve the hate it got! It wasn’t bad.

Rogue One is fantastic. Full stop.

w3dd1e,

I forgot about the games! I’ve not played many of them but the games I did play were awesome!

w3dd1e,

Came here to say this but I see the Pringles logo.

w3dd1e,

That's what I love about this show. I have almost all the episodes memorized at this point, but I can still find something I didn't catch before.

w3dd1e,

I’ve been trying to play Guild Wars but the UI and the lack of direction is a bit confusing and frustrating for me. Does Guild Wars allow add-ons/mods? If so are there any User Interface mods that you’d recommend?

w3dd1e,

It depends on a lot of factors, but as with the last batch of episodes, some of them are bound to be good and even if the episodes aren't, some of the jokes in the episodes will be worth it to me. I can't wait!
