My preferred way to browse here is using All and blocking communities I don’t want to see. That way I get exposed to new things I wouldn’t seek out on my own (for example: British archaeology)...
Just 5 - 3 from hexbear, 1 quasi NSFW that keeps popping up (I have NSFW turned off), and the Far Side one because they’re a lot less funny and more boomer humor than I remember.
I wouldn’t call an 8% drop “downfall”. I think it will shrink and grow over time, but I expect the growth pattern will be in waves - migrations of people coming in response to changes in Reddit or other causes, followed by periods of retraction as some people lose interest or decide it’s not for them.
From my feeling, it seems pretty steady at the moment. I wouldn’t mind if it got bigger, especially to make some more niche communities possible. But I’m not worried about it.
One of my most hated things in the dying days of Reddit is people having to put the /s because of all the mass down voting from users that didn’t get a post was a joke....
Years ago, I had to do customer service training for a job, and one thing they said is to always say “you’re welcome” instead of “no problem”, because some people think “no problem” is rude. But I think it’s a generational thing, and it’s kind of the opposite with younger folks.
I have accounts on various Reddit alternatives and have also had accounts on now-defunct sites. However, none have exhibited the same level of negativity as Lemmy.
I’m kidding - just a friendly heads up that I got myself added as a mod here, since the original mod seems to have disappeared (I’m not trying to “dirt road” them or anything)....

Everyone has already died and has died multiple times
When we sleep, we are technically half-dead. So, wouldn't it be safe to say that everyone currently living has died many times?

Why is the /s necessary here as well?

What happened to "You're welcome!" as a response to "Thank You"? It's not even included in the canned answers on an apple watch. Have we as a society abandoned it?
I hear “No problem” far more often.
Why does the culture surrounding Lemmy seem to be inherently negative and hateful?
