I left the Merlin Bird ID app running for 20 minutes when I was out walking Arthur this morning and there were lots of songs surrounding us!
No linnets, tree creepers, goldcrest or green woodpeckers detected today. I did see a green woodpecker though, but he wasn't very vocal for a change!

An unexpected trip out in a photoshoot for an idea I had back last summer.
This is my mobile phone shot, didn't think it would pick up anything.
My husband is taking the proper pics and I'm a bit cold and spooked!! This is the Ryde paddle steamer in a very sad state.

That's why I prefer being here, just as me.

@sharongascoigne Many conservatives have morals but not those in government unfortunately. I’m one of them, and I will certainly not be voting Tory next time round, and desperately hoping an alternative will come forward. The Climate Party sounds interesting.

@sharongascoigne I know what you meant. I’m ashamed of what the Tories have done to this country. You can be conservative and not consumed by greed and self-obsession. Basically the Climate Party has set themselves up as a centre right alternative to the Green Party, for those that disagree with Tory climate policy, but can’t vote for the Greens as they see them as too far left.

@sharongascoigne I agree with that! It’s a liberal policy but much fairer. Unfortunately I couldn’t vote Lib Dem either though. You could always deliberately spoil your vote. That counts towards the turnout, and the numbers of spoiled votes are recorded, which also sends a message that people are dissatisfied with everyone. I’m considering doing that too.

@sharongascoigne Not sure that will make much difference though, other than to make a protest that will be ignored anyway. It’s the same old two horse race unfortunately.

@sharongascoigne Yes voter apathy is becoming a huge problem in many western countries where people no longer believe they have a voice. Only voting can make difference, and spoiling it is definitely better than not voting at all!

So 2023 was both the #warmest and #wettest year since my records began in 2009.

• Almost a DEGREE (0.9°C) warmer than my previous warmest year which was… 2022.
• The wettest year in my series, beating 2014’s 1069.1mm by 59mm.
• My record low MSLP (pressure) of 954.3 mb (28.2 inHg) was recorded on 2nd November.

I'll be glad to see the back of today. In agony with an infected tooth that needs to come out, emergency appointment on 18th December (!) That's private as NHS dentists don't seem to be a thing any longer. On antibiotics that make me feel sick.

Spent the day watching people that have never graced us with their presence before realise that we don't do Black Friday.

Son bringing his new girlfriend home from school , she lives on the poshest road in town to our very untidy and unposh house!

There’s a reason why people follow you, and it’s not because of where or how you live (well partly where yes, as your husband takes beautiful photos).
