AmericanScream,

I guess two wrongs can make a right sometimes.

AmericanScream,

Did that guy ever get in trouble with the government? I assume you can't just take an EIDL out and stick it in a crypto scheme.

AmericanScream,

Don't underestimate the power of disgruntled users. There is no place right now that can handle Reddit - all the alternatives that aren't monolithic corporations can't handle the traffic. Kbin included. So the best anybody can do right now is be on the lookout. This isn't like it was when people left Digg for Reddit almost two decades ago. It takes quite a bit of resources to manage a large migration - it will be in small steps, but rest assured.... Reddit's mods and their communities now are forever changed....

As a mod of some reddits that will go back online, we're now going to be actively promoting alternative sites to also post content on and congregate - we have to do it piecemeal because of the technical requirements. We'll also be expanding the topic of our subs to include any news that's critical of reddit proper and these issues, so we won't let things die.

AmericanScream,

Google: Ok, yea we are evil. You got us. But now we're "Alphabet" so pretend something's changed.

AmericanScream,

KFC: Popeyes was too far away, eh?

AmericanScream,

This is the nature of Reddit. There's potential conflict from any mod who has seniority over you, as well as the top level admins. When we hear stories of this, we need to be able to definitively qualify whether it was just a higher level mod, or actually a Reddit admin. Two entirely different things.

AmericanScream,

Hostnames are case insensitive. E-mail addresses are case insensitive.

But paths and filenames definitely are case-sensitive in Unix (although not in Windows). Any deviation from this is implemented on the application side.

In applications, you should avoid using case-sensitive URLs unless it's for specific things like encrypted data/hashes.

AmericanScream,

That's not a downside. That's an upside. It gives people more control. Of course, people who don't know how to write user-friendly apps can bungle that control.

AmericanScream,

To be more accurate, that article should be entitled, "Trump pays for legal representation in advance with certified cashier's check."

OC How did you end up finding kbin? Did you migrate here from Reddit?

I was initially introduced to Mastodon a few years ago by a close friend and picked up on it quickly given the benefits of not having to deal with advertising, or being shown what a mega-corporation thought I should have to see through algorithms. I have since found a great instance over on cupoftea.social that promotes quality...

AmericanScream,

I found out Reddit just banned one of the kbin communities for "spam" - that's what brought me here.

AmericanScream,

Magazine names should not be case-sensitive, but they are.
