Bucket_of_Truth,

I'm just a Greek American, but I would assume it's mostly a cultural thing more than an actual belief in God. I was an ordained alter boy and my church was kind of a "training" congregation for years before we got a permanent priest. A lot of the guys who came through used the seminary as a way to get out of whatever Balkan backwater they grew up in.

Is there a way to directly transfer files between laptops and PCs using regular USB cables?

I’ve replaced my old laptop with a new one and I have over 350GB worth of data to move over, moving all of it to an external drive and then moving them to the new laptop doesn’t seem efficient and it seems like it’s gonna take forever...

Bucket_of_Truth,

If you're on the same network I would just use Filezilla ftp client. Download it on both devices and you can transfer whatever between them.

Are you planning on keeping the old laptop? If it's not a proprietary drive type you could probably just take it out and pop it into your new computer. Most newer laptops can support two
SSD. If they're both M.2 drives you wouldn't even need a new cable, just a screwdriver.

Bucket_of_Truth,

I beat it for the first time over the pandemic and was totally blown away, instantly one of my favorite games of all time.

The soundtrack is fucking amazing, there's the youTube channel Lavos with endless mixes of it. Corridors of time never gets old.

Bucket_of_Truth,

Half-life was based off a modified Quake engine. So ya, it sorta helped create Valve and Steam.

Bucket_of_Truth,

There's Torrentleech.org and Iptorrents
People don't like IP torrents though because the owner is a sketchy scam artist.

Bucket_of_Truth,

A dedicated server + large cloud service to host my own Plex server for my family and friends.

Bucket_of_Truth,

FAA approved it to be tested. Not for mass production or for a layman to use it. They probably got one flight plan approved.

Bucket_of_Truth,

On the one hand Dame is the coolest guy in Portland and it would suck to see him go.

On the other hand I live within walking distance of the Moda Center and $5 tickets close enough to air my grievances directly to the team rocks.

Bucket_of_Truth,

Companies pay YouTube for advertisements. Google's not just putting ads on videos for fun.

Is there any one else who feels like their life has been disrupted by this whole debacle with Reddit.

I really do like KBin and Lemmy and the fediverse on the whole, but development is still young and the userbase still growing. KBin is still basically early access, and Lemmy is buggy. I spent alot of time in reddit and I'm feeling the pain of trying to ween myself from it. Just wanted to here community perspectives and see how...

Bucket_of_Truth,

I feel more like we're experiencing a new epoch of the internet and society really. It's not just reddit changing it's API, it seems that everything is changing around us and reddit is just one facet of that. The pandemic ending, the rise of AI, new threats of war, fentanyl cheaper than soda, and unprecedented corporate greed are creating a world that we haven't seen before and it's strange for everyone.

How much of your life have you degoogled? (beehaw.org)

We're reaching the end of an era wherein billions of dollars of investor money was shovelled into tech startups to build large user-bases, and now those companies (now monoliths) are beginning to constrict their user-bases and squeeze for every single penny they can possibly extract. Fair or not....

Bucket_of_Truth,

You can if you have the right phone, namely pixels. Ironic because its the Google phone, but the Pixel line has the most custom firmware development.

LineageOS for a more stock version of a de-googled ROM. Works on a number of Android devices.
GrapheneOS for a completely de-googled firmware that is tailored for privacy. Snowden said if he were to use a phone it'd be a Pixel running Graphene. Only works with Pixel.

Bucket_of_Truth,

I just bought a Pixel 7 specifically to run custom firmware. I'm on the fence about how scorched earth I want to go with it. LineageOS is closer to stock Android but with the option to degoog. GrapheneOS if I want to be completely free of it.

The only downside is that the camera blows without the stock gCam.

Bucket_of_Truth,

He's polling worse than fucking RFK jr, he stands no chance. YoUr'Re AlL JuSt SiTtInG tHeRe! We're more than a year away from the general election, which he will never make it to because there are months of primaries before where Trump will assuredly win.

Bucket_of_Truth,

You can play nearly anything through proton by adding the game's .exe as a non steam game. ProtonDB is a valuable resource.. You can install Mint alongside windows anyway and just boot winders for the games that don't run on Linux.

Bucket_of_Truth,

Imo the more fucked up the tomato looks the better it tastes.

Bucket_of_Truth,

Iirc Chihuahuas share the most DNA with pre Columbian wild dogs of the Americas. Clocking in at a whopping 2%.

Bucket_of_Truth,

Desktops are better in almost every aspect by a longshot. They're fully upgradable, can adequately cool the components, and deliver like twice as much power to the processors.

Bucket_of_Truth,

Decades? Did they even have gaming laptops in 2003?

Bucket_of_Truth,

For real! I understand it takes a few minutes longer but it's sooooo nice not having to get out of the car.

I am severely biased though, I drive a VW Golf diesel and Oregon allows drivers to pump their own diesel fuel. If the attendant takes more than two seconds to service me I just do it myself.

Bucket_of_Truth,

I just got a Pixel 7, had the Fold in my cart originally but thankfully did a little bit of research into foldy phones. One reviewer said to be careful if you go out to a beach or anywhere with sand because it can get into it and damage the inside screen. I go to the beach all the time.

The seam over the hinge looks hideous in regular use too. Too noticable of a bump. I don't trust the hinge to stay 100% tight forever either. It reminds me of the first Moto Droid, the keyboard lock often wouldn't lock so it would just slide freely.

Bucket_of_Truth,

I saw someone who had a Nintendo DS emulator loaded up and it looked sooooo cool.

Bucket_of_Truth,

That's a huuuuuge problem seeing that Nvidia has like an 80% gpu market share.
