YouTube is changing the homepage experience for users who have their watch history turned off. They will now see an almost blank homepage with just a search bar and buttons for Shorts, Subscriptions and Library. This is intended to make it clear that personalized recommendations rely on watch history data. The new design aims to...
It's funny because I agree with you - out of everything that collects my data I get the most out of YouTube, it often recommends things I like quite a bit and it's the primary way I discover new music
I initially only installed “Comodo Firewall” but for some reason they also installed a “Comodo Dragon Browser”, which I did not consent to. I always choose the “advanced” installation to uncheck bloatware, but in this case there was none and when you try to uninstall the browser, they force you to participate in...
Hi, ive been pirating stuff for a bit and I currently use Picotorrent, but I wanted to know what everyone else uses to see if there is a better option.
Dockerized programs are easy to install and easy to make system agnostic. It's not always beneficial if you just have one system and you've already got a lot to learn about how to set it up, because it adds another layer of knowledge that you need to use it effectively. But if you're comfortable with *nix and tech in general it's nice to containerize stuff
I thought so too, but it isn't - it's a server that hosts your pirated games and a client that downloads from the server and installs them. It's like Steam or Epic games, but for pirated games.

It's ultimately because of capital. Capital controls resource allocation, so any project that requires resources will have to align with capital interests
Hey folks! Just realized something that makes Lemmy different from Reddit. Because of the federation, your votes are not technically anonymous on Lemmy. At least, I think....
Can't the other instances see what you saw via federation? Or does a self hosted lemmy instance federate all comments from all threads once it knows about a server?
Not even a fan of Pearl Jam, but the song's discordant guitar solo is perfect for its message, and captured brilliantly by the animation. I'm a sucker for late state American animation well-executed like this, too.
So hopefully I'm doing this right! :) (I'm still new to some of this so haven't figured out things yet! I did ask this via Mastodon also, but wanted to add more detail to my answer!)...
I apologize if this has already been covered, but I’ve seen a lot of people talking about a need for a kbin app. While I agree that a native app would be nice to have eventually, I figured that quite a few people probably aren’t aware of how web apps work. I don’t use Android, so I have no idea if there is an equivalent...
Thanks. I thought nobody was even replying to my comments until I realized that notifications for replies to comments were off by default on kbin, lol.
For example, I’m on Lemmy.sdf.org and I joined the Apple@lemmy.ml community. But there are many missing articles and comments. If I browse directly on Lemmy.ml for the same article there ~90% of comments are missing....
