I don't like politics precisely because of polarization and extremists. My first experience in the fediverse wasn't good either. Russian invasion to Ukraine happened two months before, Elon Musk stated his intentions to buy Twitter, and I joined a random Mastodon instance. Guess what? Tankies supporting and defending Russia and anything related to communism.

Luckily, I discovered that there are a lot of more Mastodon and Lemmy servers, and I'm in those that I can call "home".

It's obvious that I don't want to see far-right or alt-right content while I can. But I don't want to see tankie or far-left content either. Like someone said in this post, discussing with a commie and disagreeing, even being in the left political spectrum, makes you a "fascist" or something similar.

After a couple of months doing photosynthesis, my ADHD medication finally decided to allow me to study this morning. But no more than 90 minutes. Now I'm again in my endless scrolling and doing nothing productive.

Besides that, I'm trying to be more active in kbin.social / lemmy instances to create more content through comments or post and engage, knowing the inevitable doom from Reddit (although I have an user on sopuli since last year).

When I joined Lemmy a year ago (with another user), Lemmygrad was not my piece of cake, Lemmy.ml was too big (similar to mastodon.social), Lemmy.ca was not in my continent, and I didn't notice about beehaw. So, sopuli was the only one standing: small, from Finland and not tankie.

Creating a instance can be difficult, but it's a good way when you don't like what you're offered, and it can help other people to find their home.

That depends on what instance you create an user on. For example, Lemmygrad.ml and Lemmy.ml are not the same thing, despite both belonging to Lemmy. The issues I see are having a tankie culture, and not having more points of view.

There are less users so less content

That's something we can help with, although it's not so easy. I mean, the users that are already here, we can create more content and interact more with each other, so eventually more users will come. It can be boring and tiring, but it's not impossible.

Federation is a stumbling block for many people

That's something absolutely new for the vast majority of people. I felt myself confused the first time I joined the fediverse too. But after some time, I felt myself less confused. Some clarifications, tutorials and support can do the real trick.

I don't remember. First of all, I knew about fediverse thanks to Elon Musk, when he decided to buy Twitter on April last year. So, I went to Mastodon (my first instance was a tankie one, by the way, and I didn't notice it on first sight). Afterwards, I was learning more about fediverse services, like Pixelfed, PeerTube, Lemmy and others. So, I've a Lemmy user since the 28th of April, 2022. But I've also a kbin.social user since yesterday.

I think these reddit news had nothing to do with my decision to create an user on Lemmy. But they do have everything to do with my decision to be more active here.

There are funny ones, like 2westerneurope4u and balkans_irl; useful ones in general, like astralprojection and meditation, an useful ones in my case, like stratterarx and aspergers. I also miss polandball, but to reach that quality level it's needed a lot of time and more users.

I miss some communities here that are present on Reddit. But you're right, here you can feel yourself more free and more engaged. With some time and some effort, this can be very awesome.

SOMA and those Amnesia games give me a lot of terror and nightmares. But I like them. Amnesia: Rebirth is really spooky and eerie because of that strange blue mask and the setting.

It'll happen, but not as soon as we think. First, war needs to end, and the only way to end is with Russia returning the occupied territories to Ukraine, including Crimea.

I think that Ukraine accession into UE will happen earlier than accession into NATO. And I don't think that Orban, biggest Putin's puppet after Lukashenko, is willing to allow Ukraine into NATO.
