Kierunkowy74, to kbinMeta in Cross posting norms and etiquette?

Posting the same link to 3 magazines is enough IMO. Your /kbin account can be followed via Mastodon and similar services, and Mastodon interprets crossposting as completely different posts.

Kierunkowy74, to fediverse in Sublinks Aims to Be a Drop-In Replacement for Lemmy
Kierunkowy74 avatar

From the project website:

Sublinks, crafted using Java Spring Boot, stands as a state-of-the-art link aggregation and microblogging platform , reminiscent yet advanced compared to Lemmy & Kbin.

But the author of PieFed, written in even more popular language than Java (Python) said:

The thing with the more twitter-style ActivityPub projects is they send activities to individual users inboxes a lot, whereas with the threadverse it's all shared inboxes. So there's a fundamental difference in the way they use the protocol which makes scaling those projects much more difficult. My gut feel is that adding full microblog support would increase the size and complexity of the codebase by at least 50% and triple the server load. Maybe much more. It just doesn't seem worth it.

A feature creep?

(maybe they see a bus factor = 1 as the only issue of /kbin, though)

A) Appoint more administrator (or other system roles with the ability to block/delete spam accounts)

@ernest already wanted to do this back in this autumn. It looks, that /kbin software actually was not ready to this, though. :/

kbin.social is only PWA right now. There is Interstellar app for Android being developed right now, but it is available only via Github releases (no Google Play nor F-Droid). And it works only on https://kbin.earth (or instances of /kbin fork called /mbin) right now.

Kierunkowy74, to lemmy in I think that it would be good to mirror the Lemmy repositories to a FOSS alternative (e.g. Codeberg)

Reddit's multireddits (a combined feed from multiple reddits) are a small step in this direction on a centralized social network, and there have already been requests for similar Lemmy functionality ("supercommunities")

They are already introduced into /kbin - as Collections

Æsthetical, recognisable, not busy, with a subtle nod to the shape of the state. I like it.

Meta's fediverses probably also won't be able to compete with Threads on this. Threads plan to make federation opt-in is the right thing to do from a privacy and safety perspective, but also means that people in Meta's fediverses won't be able to communiate with most of the people on Threads. And Meta has the option of adding communication between Threads and the billions of people on other networks like Instagram (which already shares the same infrastructure), Facebook, and WhatsApp. Longer-term, it seems to me that this is likely to be a huge challenge for Meta's fediverses, but fediverse influencers supporting federating with Meta have various arguments why it doesn't matter.

Is it really Meta's fediverses, when communication between them and their alleged owner is fairly little and actively gatekept by their alleged owner?
