WASHINGTON—Upon returning from his brief diplomatic trip to the Middle East, President Joe Biden urged the nation Thursday not to let dangerous online rhetoric humanize Palestinians.
I bet the key phrase is “like all other men” is missed by most, thinking that they are, of course, better, simply because they have no land to lord about.
While I think we give enough military help to Israel, so that it is strange to give more, implying that it is only their making, and absolving Hamas from responsibility is intellectually dishonest. From 2005 Gaza was not occupied by Israel, in fact, Israel removed forcefully Jewish settlements around that time. And Hamas came to power (2006?) forcefully removing all political opponents, and has literal destruction of Israel as their main policy openly for years. It conducted many terrorist acts, including the latest horrific act. But no, it is of course only Israeli doing.
And why should we give the same amount. One is more or less democratic state. Another is jihadist terrorist organization whose goals are to destroy the democratic state. You claiming moral equality here somehow? Sorry, does not work for me.
There are a lot I can things criticize Israel for, but genocide in Gaza is not. I can not call their past actions or present actions as genocide. Israel is in horrible situation now and has to choose within availabile options which vary from horrible to absolutely horrible. Israel can not just not react to what was done to it, but ANY reaction is called genocide by many of its critics for the sake of either propaganda or simply not being intellectually honest and objective about the situation.
