Investors will say “OK Boomer” to aging Reddit | Reuters | Ghostarchive (ghostarchive.org)

NEW YORK, Feb 7 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Social media platform Reddit, which helps its users “dive into anything,” may finally plunge into the public markets. The 19-year-old company made over $800 million in sales last year, at least 20% more than in 2022, according to Bloomberg. But a dearth of profit this late into its...

Bassman1805,

A cool thing I learned from their public filing is that Spez makes 192M in total compensation, and the company has been running around 150M deficit.

That’s the makings of a very profitable investment, you know 🙄

i paid for a lifetime subscription in like 2016 and i still use and install apks downloaded direct from the official forums for the android app on my shield. nothing has been deprecated at all.

you can prefer jellyfin, that’s fine, but making stuff up to scare others is just wildass doomer shit.

it’s a media player. if they go under or get too shitty, i’ll use a different media player. for now, and the foreseeable future, plex is miles ahead of the competition.

not that it would ever happen at critical mass, but i think there’s a valid criticism here.

when i first heard about federated platforms my initial impression was that it was more of a “hub and spoke” system than the free-for-all it currently is. i still think there’s some merit to having a few larger “parent” instances that handle the federation between each other, while individual instances pull federation via their “parent” instance. seems like this approach would help reduce some of that overhead, but that does jeopardize the open nature of the protocol.

it’s a tough thing to balance.

Final Fantasy 2 is what everyone calls Final Fantasy 4. Final Fantasy 3 is supposedly 6. I’ll be deadnaming both of those fuckers until I die.

The ones that didn’t release in America… didn’t release in America for a reason. I had no issues with the series jump from 1, 2, 3 to 7.

Also Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is dope.
