why does an “active and engaged player base” matter at all? you can host a personal/local dedicated server, so no worries about them shutting the servers off. the game has no larger community interactions beyond what happens on a server. there’s not even pvp that would suffer from a diminished player base.

Looks like they kinda hamfisted one in there for you. Other than some of the VO during that scene, it really felt like something cobbled together in post - I wonder if that was a prevailing sentiment in their focus groups.
It felt to me like about half an episode worth of story that got crammed into a vague investigation interview, then they called Foster back to do a new VO.
Overall I loved it though, that ending montage just felt rushed.
