What's the name of the belief that gods/entities are quasi-semtient memes (the linguistic term, not the cultural term) in the same manner that corporations and governments are considered people?

It’s a personal philosophy that I’ve come to use as my own form of religion, and while I’m aware other people have researched the idea, I’m having some trouble finding the name for the concept.

Pons_Aelius,

This was my thought as well.

Gods exist because humans believe in them. The stronger the belief, the stronger the God.

As belief fades, so does the Deity and their power.

Meta Introduces Ad-Free Subscriptions for Facebook and Instagram in Compliance with European Regulations (multidocu.blogspot.com)

Meta has announced that it will offer a monthly subscription for users who wish to use Facebook and Instagram without ads in order to comply with new regulations in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland. Users can continue to use these services for free with the existing ad-supported model.

Pons_Aelius,

Add free but they still track, profile and sell the data to other add brokers...

Which was the main part of the issue the EU has with fb.

All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.__

The moon becomes a penal colony for political dissidents from China, The USSR and the USA etc.

Pons_Aelius,

Personally, a post expressing displeasure about what others are posting rings a bit hollow when it comes from an account that has been around for months but has not posted or commented anything prior to this.

Please improve your efforts to entertain me...

What have you brought to the table?

Pons_Aelius,

Having two entrants is still better than one.

Pons_Aelius,

Their arse.

Pons_Aelius,

MS has more than enough cash and resources to back two horses.

Computing necessary for training this models is not cheap and there is an obvious opportunity cost here.

This also gives them the luxury of trying a different approach.

Pons_Aelius,

Thanks for reminding me about this, have not listened to it in years.

Link for those who have not heard it. “Dear God,” by XTC

Sadly the lyrics are a relevant as the day they were penned.

About God

Pons_Aelius,

TLDR:

Science cannot disprove god.

Maths is not science.

There are branches of maths that are too complex for me to understand.

(anything I cannot understand must be god)

Therefore maths proves god.

I am sure if AMC beats the mortally deficient equine one more time it will get up and run again...

“As it turns out the woolly mammoth and Asian elephant are 99.6% gnomically similar,” said James.

That is still further apart genetically than humans and the other two chimp species, so it is still a massive gap to bridge.

Asian elephants are also endangered, wouldn't it be better to ensure their survival than to spend money on this boondoggle?

Pons_Aelius,

98% of Dr Martins are no longer made in the UK.

Another great old school manufacture that is now little more than a brand name.

Apple spent ~100 M per year on adds on twitter prior to the EM buyout.

There is no way in hell these grifters will do anything but talk big. The money will never come.

Why isn’t “It Can’t Happen Here” By Sinclair Lewis not as well known as other Dystopian Fiction novels?

I’m a massive fan of Dystopian Fiction and have read several classics in the genre, but I recently heard about “It Can’t Happen Here” and it sounded exactly like a novel I’ve always wanted to read, but never knew it existed. After having read a bit of it so far, and am curious how this book is not more prominent in...

Pons_Aelius,

As someone not from the US I would say one of the reasons Everyone talks about Brave New World and Orwells works are because, while they are set in a future US and UK the setting is not that relevant and could be "Any western democracy at some time in the future" while “It Can’t Happen Here” is very much set in the USA and at a certain time.

Why it is not more popular in the USA?

My guess is that during the cold war, anything that specific about fascism in the USA would have not been allowed to be widely used in US schools.

Pons_Aelius,

Which means nothing if the US does not spend the money on their citizens.
