Disco Elysium, Weird West and Trails in The Sky FC are great narrative driven games. They deal with a lot of different topics in mature ways, hoping you get some good recs out of the thread

Saw this post and this was my first thought. I am morbidly pleased that Robert called it so hard. I hope everyone becomes aware of these scumbag grifts

How did you get into anime?

Although my first anime was back during early childhood (back when anime programme block was a regular thing in Indonesian television). Vulcan just really started following anime seriously during junior high school back in 2012 (classmates are into Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online during that time, and we often chatted about...

Initial D is amazing. I want to get back to watching. Although I have personal reasons as to why I haven't been able to get back to it. First Stage was AMAZING. Every race was so thrilling.

Like some of the people in the thread, I started with SAO. In addition to this I also got put onto the P4 OG anime by a friend. Granted I was already watching stuff like Sora no Otoshimono and Seto no Hanayome. After this I was put onto stuff like BakaTesto by the same friend. Hilariously enough this is the same friend that ALSO got me into Taiko no Tatsujin. But yeah these were my anime roots. Now I mainly watch stuff like Ergo Proxy/Lain. I'm currently on hold for my Lain rewatch. This is all while trying to juggle multiple manga and currently releasing anime.

I agree, I do love that edge is leagues better than IE (which isn't saying much, but there has to be some Kudos to actually making a web browser). But I think that many people who are focused on privacy do not use chromium based browsers with heavy telemetry like Chrome/Edge.

Firefox or even its privacy focused variants are the way to go if a user wants total control over their privacy. That and probably using adguard dns for some extra help. Although that's trusting a different company to handle your traffic.

Like it was said many people get attached to these games and want remakes. There is also the elephant in the room that 3 doesn't play as well as 5R does gameplay wise.

Forgetting the visuals for a second, the persona series has evolved far past the roots of 3 and 4 and this way Atlus can get more people into persona while still not alienating fans because, "P3P is on PC already" which generally has all the content people want (honestly look up any discussion on 'The Answer' and you'll see why it doesn't need to be included). So fans will have an original-adjacent version and newcomers will have the new version closer to 5R. Which I'm guessing they hope both parties double dip

Just finished up some side quests in Xenosaga 2. Now I'm watching Boondocks with the boys and playing FF4

I'm wondering how close to Persona it'll be. It honestly looks like they made Mikado into a full fledged locale. Which isn't a complaint from me. Hoping the story is good and the UI gets cleaned up a bit.

How many people have been playing Weird West? Playing through it right now and I've got to say; this game has so much modding potential. The additional plus of it being a easily modified inmsersive sim adds so much replay value like Doom and gameplay WADs

What game is improved the most by mods?

I know most of the Bethesda RPGs have massive mod support, and there's games like Minecraft that have more mods than anyone can imagine. I would consider those games pretty playable in their vanilla states. Would you say there are any games that were "saved" by modding? Or that are still kept alive by thriving modding...

I would say that MyHouse.Wad is the thing that inspired me to remember why I loved horror in the first place. It truly is a unique experience and I really love the inspiration with it. Totally convinced me to read the book it is heavily inspired by but really showed me that more people CAN do the Silent Hill thing of a strange place with strange logic and still draw people in.

The music, gameplay, ambience and aesthetics all mesh well and really give me a SH2/3 vibe while still feeling fresh.

Golden Souls is also a great mod and I'm so glad the Doom Mod community exists to bring all these creative ideas that people have to fruition.

Sidenote: It also inspired me to write a weird west setting for tabletops that I hope to release at some point.

Currently I've been reading Witchburner as a side plot line in my current Pathfinder world. I'm using the Midgard setting as a base. Right now I'm trying to write a vampire world takeover that involves them trying to kill Baba Yaga while the PCs attempt to find out this plan and stop it. I'm also working on implementing mechs into it because I've been bitten by the Xenogears bug.

**CONTENT WARNING FOR CYBERPUNK Sexual Abuse, Drugs and Murder **

Additionally I'm writing a Cyberpunk Red homebrew campaign that discusses topics such as parasocial relationships, the dangers and downsides of becoming too involved in them, and porn addiction. The players have stumbled upon a terrible human trafficking ring, funded by SovOil's CEO after killing his daughter due to her mind being taken over by a relic which contained an anticorporate revolutionary hell bent on freeing Neo-Soveit Russia. It's really dark but I felt like CBP was the world to tell this in

Lancer is, the problem with Lancer I've been having is trying to get humanoid and organic enemies. So while I think of a way to do it I'm running Pathfinder.

Witchburner is an OSR module that's about the players being Inquisitors sent to burn a witch in a remote location. SPOILERS ahead.

|| There is no witch|| And the players have to prove that there is either a witch amongst them (frame an NPC) or run away (if they can, it's dangerous in those woods. It's a social deduction adventure and less centered on any kind of complex combat and more on the relations they have with the NPCs

Suggestion regarding music recomendations

A few months ago, I switched from using mainly YouTube for music to a self-hosted solution. I download everything from Soulseek and really love it. But the one issue that I have is that it is pretty hard to find new music. With YouTube, I had recommendation that most of the time were pretty conservative but still sometimes...

Seconding ViMusic and adding using SpotX or XManager to use Spotify's service to discover stuff for you without having to pay.

Metal Gear Survive, while I disagree with the usage of the MG brand for it; it could have been successful had they provided more content for it but more importantly if they just never used MG to advertise it. The classes were fun and the gameplay while repetitive with enough content could have been used creatively. It sucks it was marred with MTXs and just general Konami stupidity. Once again, fuck Konami.

What JRPGs are people playing right now? Currently it's Xenosaga 2

RatsAmassing,
RatsAmassing avatar

@QuestioningEspecialy Gonna be honest I've heard the opposite for 1 and 2. Never played 1 but watched it. Gotta say, the combat in 2 is amazing so it's worth a play just for that and the story. That being said it has some problems like Disc 2 of Xenogears. I would play 2 to just because it's fun as heck to play

RatsAmassing,

@sickday I've heard the Steam Deck is a great emulation powerhouse. I definitely want to get one myself. Perhaps in the next iteration of it. A friend of mine has been playing the new SO. I plan to play 1-3 eventually as I've heard those games are great.

@Squid777 Raidoub1's OST is fantastic, honestly one of the best OSTs Meguro has worked on.

Will be adding these to my plan to read. I've been on a scifi kick as of recently

My favorite fantasy subgenre has got to be Techno fantasy. Settings where ancient civilizations were immensely technological advanced to the point it is almost biblical or spiritual but rooted in the technology of the world the story takes place in

RatsAmassing,

Surprised no one has mentioned Xenogears, the story is amazingly deep. So yeah not CT but gears is ONE OF the greatest JRPGs of all time
