isn't it pretty hard to determine if it's worthwhile if they aren't going all-in on making it an interesting place with breaking news & accounts for certain types of news etc?
is artemis.camp going to be a permanent instance for /kbin
That is the plan, yes! I am not sure if it will stay the default way that users browse the app or the workflow will change to having you immediately pick an instance to browse via once the api is fully supported.
(public beta requires you to sign up for https://artemis.camp and access the app via this instance, as soon as the kbin API is fully released as opposed to dev branch only, all instances will be supported!)
Unfortunately the thumbnails in compact mode are microscopic. Probably the worst size I've yet to see, and most apps are already pretty bad at using the available space for that.
I've made a ticket about this. Just because it's low priority doesn't mean it won't happen - it just means Hariette goes through tickets FAST and there's a bunch of higher-prio things to do~
Feel free to add a comment if you have anything additional to add, or to upvote it to show your support

Ah good clarification! You can view it logged out without any new account,
I can see that opinion, but as the person who is currently prioritizing tickets for Artemis, I can tell you that the issue tracker is being paid attention to haha
The contestants in an event like the Excel World Championship are given what’s called a “case,” which could be almost anything. One case from last year’s competition required each player to figure out all the possible outcomes and associated rewards for a slot machine; another required modeling how a videogame character...
Was quite confused that this is Microsoft Excel and not Excel Esports, the very real esports organization that competes in actual esports.
Maybe edit the title? I completely glossed over this and wondered what is a generic esports event doing in /m/technology for a while until I thought "wait is this maybe not about the esports org"
It seems like when the big reddit migration happened, a lot of new users claimed magazine names on kbin instances that were popular on reddit in order to have ownership of them, but they seemingly have no interest in posting content to them. This has unfortunately caused lot of otherwise useful magazines to remain dormant,...
Why would people want to invest time and effort into building up a magazine that's under control of a name squatter?
I think you (and OP) are rewriting history a little bit. People enthusiastically created many magazines in the first days of the migration so that they would already exist and people would post to them. I do not think many people (if anyone) created magazines because they wanted to own them. In fact, if you look at many of the descriptions they say things like "reddit mods contact me if you want to take this over."
Yeah if you look at my profile I'm modding 7 magazines:
Two I'm posting frequently to, and no one else posts there
One, I was the owner of on reddit in the first place
One I was a heavy contributor to on reddit, and I left an open offer to mods to take over
One I was a heavy contributor to on reddit, but the mods on reddit were inactive so I didn't leave that notice
The other two I had nothing to do with, but I was in a discord convo where someone was bemoaning their lack so I said "ok I'll create them, then you can post" and I'm pretty sure I left a note that subreddit mods are free to take them from me, but yeah if anyone wrote me and said "why are you sitting on TalesFromTechSupport" my first response would be, "do you want it?"
Here we have yesterday's board but with the dark purple line actually formed. I went ahead and reversed both the TV symmetry and the FX symmetry, so you can see how different the solve looks, even though it's inherently the same board! I think it's a very cool attribute of these colored tiles.
I'm trying to figure out a mathematical definitions for symmetries...something like moving a rigid subset such that this subset itself follows the rules that govern the rules of a pentomino makes the solve the same as the first up to rigid-subset transformation.
This is my first "solid color across" solve...but it doesn't actually work! This is just how I solved it originally.
This solution has 2 places with symmetry. First, in the upper-left corner, is VT. Second, in the middle, is FX.
Tomorrow, I'll repost it with TV swapped and you can see the line completed.
After that, we'll do some more lines across for other colors.
I've been trying to do pink from one corner to the diagonally-opposite corner, but I'm not sure if it's possible. I spent about 3 hours on it yesterday and got kind of close to solves several times, but the leftover piece was never correct. Variously, I needed 2 Ns, Ps, Us, or Is. I think maybe I had one that would've needed two Ws too. But I never got an actual solve.
We do have to be able to tell it to point the antenna away from Earth sometimes... to point sensors at a target of interest or to align thrusters in a certain direction for a maneuver. We don't need to do these things much anymore, but the ability was critical during planetary flybys.
Ah, this is what I was looking for. Makes sense, thanks!

What to do about ghost magazines that have no content?
