Right now, I’m playing the early access version of Baldurs Gate 3. I’m getting ready to put it down (frustrated: BG3 has the potential to be good, but without controller support, I’m getting really frustrated with the UI. ) and switch to Yakuza Like a Dragon. What are you playing now and what are you looking forward to...
I wanted to post this here since I want to help as much as I can in my own way to people coming here for the first time. I hope it is useful and helpful! I tried to assume low knowledge with the Fediverse in my responses which I collected here from a different post and assembled into a single article....
I just saw an email from Buy Me a Coffee. Not just one. I went in, and I'm truly shocked. Thank you all for the support; I would like to thank each and every one of you individually someday. Honestly, I don't know what to say. The account balance is $350, which will definitely allow me to develop kbin faster or at least not...
Not entirely sure how possible this is, but it's a pretty large pitfall I just discovered. If someone links a thread in a comment and I click it, my browser will open the thread in their instance, not mine. Therefore, if I want to interact with the post they linked, I have to copy it, paste it into my instance's search bar, find...
Hi everyone, You may have noticed a small change on the website. From now on, upvotes work just like on Lemmy - they are equivalent to Mastodon's "favourite." You can boost a post using the button that replaced "favourite." Another change is that you can now rate and boost your own posts. Boosting has a one-time effect - it...
https://github.com/angr/angr Uses a Concolic execution engine where it can switch from running a binary concretely, break, and then define an unknown input and find what should I be to trigger a different breakpoint. - e.g. what should the “password” pointer be pointing to in order to trigger the “you’re in” branch of...
What was your journey like getting into this as a career? What have been some of the toughest challenges you’ve faced as a researcher? Why did you specialise in automated binary analysis?
The concolic execution research is speeding up though slowly. At CGC we showed that automation could find plenty of vulnerabilities of the 90s. At the same time at the end of CGC the best machine was pitted against humans in DEFCON capture the flag and the best machine placed second-to-last. So old school vulnerabilities can now be found automatically, but we also have all-purpose mitigations for them now like no-execute memory pages, stack canaries, and addres-space layout randomization. Once automation is able to reason about those general purpose mitigations we will probably see many zero days in existing code bases. I think that day is about 10 years away.
Hi everyone, it seems that we have quite a gathering here, and many of you I haven't had the chance to greet yet :) As some of you may know, /kbin is still in its early stages of development. Every day, improvements and new features are being worked on. Unfortunately, this may result in occasional short downtimes. However, the...
I just saw this post over on r/modcoord which is basically a massive list of subreddits participating in the blackout protest. If I'm being honest I haven't seen this much anger and coordinated frustration since the era right before the digg exodus....
lol! Lemmy was mind-blowing amazing and I'm not at all surprised he's all over the top results. I get your point though and def not trying to disparage you :)
I think this will raise awareness but I'm skeptical that reddit will change their plan. I think that whatever we see from them in the future will be what they planned all along. Even if they lower the API data price, they probably planned to do that anyway (anticipating the backlash to their bullshit). Not to mention NSFW content is at risk.
As you may have heard, Reddit’s decided to pull a Twitter and start charging an extortionate amount of money for access to their previously-free API, in order to drive third-party clients like Apollo and RIF into extinction. Under Reddit’s proposed pricing, …
Neither. I was banned from /r/Android because I prefer a Google Pixel over a Samsung device (yay, corrupt mods!)
I forgot, and I commented using one of my many alts. I was temporarily suspended from Reddit as a whole for "ban evasion".
My friends visited, who have Reddit accounts, and when they connected to my WiFi Reddit immediately perma-banned ALL of us, including all of my brand accounts for my company.
Reddit allowing random strangers to essentially get you perma-banned because you prefer a different phone is ridiculous. 🥲

What are some of your LEAST favorite game mechanics?
The other thread about favorite mechanics is great, so let's also do the opposite: what are some of your most hated mechanics?
We should be able to click links on other lemmy/kbin instances and open them in our own instance

Do you use reddit mostly through the app or web?
Because I only use web, on mobile and desktop. I can't live without adblock.
