I really want to help improve /kbin. I am a experienced TypeScript / React dev and a hobby PHP programmer. How do I contribute to the project. Of course there is the git repo, but there is no info in the repo (like a contribute.md) like there is in many other repos.
To cover the users to come I am already looking for some mod support. If you are interested and maybe already have some mod experience just write me up @RoaringSilence....
I wanted to post this here since I want to help as much as I can in my own way to people coming here for the first time. I hope it is useful and helpful! I tried to assume low knowledge with the Fediverse in my responses which I collected here from a different post and assembled into a single article....
Right now, I’m playing the early access version of Baldurs Gate 3. I’m getting ready to put it down (frustrated: BG3 has the potential to be good, but without controller support, I’m getting really frustrated with the UI. ) and switch to Yakuza Like a Dragon. What are you playing now and what are you looking forward to...
As you noticed, I had to temporarily enable DDoS protection. Someone is trying quite effectively to distract me from my activities ;p Unfortunately, this may cause some issues with the federation. I will try to cut off the traffic as soon as possible and return to normal operation. Thank you for all your support and patience! :)
I'm wanting to do a few camping trips with friends and I'm also going back to school for a second degree! It's gonna be packed, but I really wanna get outside more this summer, before the smoke rolls in. Do y'all have any fun plans?
I'm not trying to convince anyone to go back i promise, quite the contrary actually cause I think spez plans to just decrease the cost of the API and act like it was a bargain deal sacrifice while not solving any of the issues at all...
I've seen multiple requests for nsfw lemmy communities like reddit has. I live in Germany, and I think you are required to verify that the users that see porn content are above the age of 18. Does Lemmy has or plan to have a feature for that? Maybe this should be an issue on github?
I can verify myself using my Id card and a terminal or via NFC. The app used is the middleware between software or website requesting verification and my ID. No data leaves my ID in direction to the software or website. The middleware just gives a thumbs up to the verification request.
One of the instance that is promoted on join-lemmy.org is burggit.moe that is defined as "NSFW & Loli/Shota/Cub friendly". Loli is legally considered as paedophilia in europe and the US, so even if it's legal in the country that host the instance, I would suggest to not promote it as an instance to join
I've never been sentimental about a social media site but it's sad for me to see reddit so clearly killing itself. Pushshift is already banned and Apollo is soon to follow. Reddit will either pivot fully to a mainstream audience or die out. It's just sad for me to see it doing it to itself.
Soldering iron with needle tip, hot and full of tin. Power plug stuck in the extension cord connector.
Took the iron pointing towards me in the right hand together with the cord plug and pulled ......... Plug suddenly came free and the hot iron tip stuck in my left arm.
Pulled it out and it was clean, hole in the arm filled with tin residues. Didn't hurt to much because nerves were dead around the hole.
Went straight to the hospital, took 3 weeks and a lot of cleaning to get the wound clean.
I use the kbin website saved as an app on android home screen. Responding via kbin actually. So I can collect or respond to information from lemmy and mastodon without jumping around.
Is there a way to shop around for a Lemmy instance based on how many instances are blocking it and how many instances it's blocking? For example, I noticed that the lemmygrad.ml instance is relatively popular, but it seems like a lot of other instances block it. It also blocks a bunch of other instances. So, if there are any...
I don't think that your concerns will happen. As the fediverse could be easy replicated and it is no problem to run an own instance federating with whatever you want AND be part of the rest.
My guess is that we will see more instances with different tastes if I may call it this.
By using tools like kbin you are also free to assamble the fediverse you want without the need to follow a single instance only.
I created a magazine and entered some tags for automatically collect information. I also linked a lemmy community via https link.
It seems that I have to open the thread and then click a second time to open a browser web page containing the community.
I have seen other magazines where you can select a linked community directly and jump to it with clicking a second time. Also the community is presented in kbin with the note on top thst the shown data maybe not complete.

How do we overcome the identity problem in fediverse?
In fediverse your user name is not unique as the same name could be used by different persons over different instances in the fediverse....
