How exactly? I'm not saying they can't, I just want to know how?
The point you are mentioning also (kinda?) applies to all of the internet, then you can never ever even be "partly-private".
And chances of convincing them to not use those platforms is next to impossible, there is nothing I can really do other than switching from WA to Signal. I'm confident I can convince my close family, and that's kinda enough for me.
I want to use Signal mostly because of privacy and it's features. They... don't really want to change, but if I don't use WhatsApp, they kinda have to.
The main concern with whatsapp is they know my contacts, who i contacted with, when I contacted with them, (maybe) where I contact them from, for how long I contact them etc. etc.
I do NOT like that.
With signal, the only thing they know is your phone number (because well, it requires one) when you created an account and when you were last online. These are also concerning points but compared to whatsapp, it's much better.
Well, it's more privacy-focused, feels like home, and it's not hard to get used to and it's not a data-hungry company like Meta or Google. Also Other platforms i tested didn't really fit right with me.
Hmm, good points.
Most of these have some kind of (strong or weak) counter-arguments.
I have mixed thoughts about the first point, they kinda have some good points though.2 and 4 got resolved, very critical issues nonetheless, shouldn't have happened. The 3rd point seems kinda OK, I'm sure they would like the idea of making that open-source, but that would probably make it bypassable, correct me if im wrong. I didn't know about the fifth! The reason they gave also seems defenseless.
Concerning situations for all of the points.
Not trying to hate or back up Signal here, just my opinions.
Hocam öncelikle eyvallah. :D Ama ben başladığım işi bitiremeden içime huzur girmez. Annem ile Signal'den yazışıyoruz bile. :D
Hmm, yeah true. More people can take a look at the code, find vulnarabilities and fix it. Then it should be open-source too, since it would also be hard to bypass even if that happened. So there's not really an argument to not make it open-source.
I was up late last night and we know how that goes - rabbit holes. This time I was trying to find some ways to make my phone feel a little snappier and possibly eliminate the issue I was having where my recent apps button stops working until I restart the phone. On Android 13 I found that if I changed to gesture based navigation...
The only app I can’t live without. Except for gboard, all of my applications are Foss. There is no competition for gboard’s swipe typing, not to mention its many capabilities like as searching for gifs, stickers, being able to paste copied images, translating, and so on. I’d like to know how I can use gboard while...
Well, Mull is more like a "Librewolf for Android", I (think) it is more privacy-focused than Fennec.
Mull also supports more extensions from developer options.
'sup? So, I am a beginner that has an old Samsung laptop from 2013 with an i3 4005U, a GeForce 710M, 500GB HDD (I will probably upgrade it to an SSD, but not for now.), 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM (the same for the HDD, will probably upgrade to 8GB some time.). It currently has Windows 10 Home but Linux is probably lighter (right?)...
Is it (still) worth trying to switch my family and friends from WhatsApp to Signal? (Read all of it, please.)
This may sound a bit dumb, but eh....
Just had my first interaction with Meta Services last night. Thought I'd share what I learned.

Isn't technically everything open-source?
I don't know (but wanna learn) programming, but, for example, can't you inspect the code of an app if it's installed?...
