'sup? So, I am a beginner that has an old Samsung laptop from 2013 with an i3 4005U, a GeForce 710M, 500GB HDD (I will probably upgrade it to an SSD, but not for now.), 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM (the same for the HDD, will probably upgrade to 8GB some time.). It currently has Windows 10 Home but Linux is probably lighter (right?)...
Well, there is Florisboard but it hasn't received an update for about 10 months. (Edit: found out its still developing but I think its sloooooowww)

It’s almost as if reddit’s first party app couldn’t even compete with third party apps. I used Boost for Reddit and now I’m waiting for Boost for Lemmy...
I'm still checking it because Infinity for Reddit isn't "dead" yet. I used Sync too, so I'm waiting for Sync for Lemmy/kbin! (I know it's coming out in about 5 weeks according to the developer of Sync.)
"The fediverse isn’t ready to take over yet." and I think that it doesn't matter that much. You need to form a community, big or small, but a healthy one, and then make your way from there. Some platforms are, yes, still in early stages, but I think the communities are actually helping developers because they can give the developerse feedbacks about new features, bugs etc. etc.
I barely use reddit anymore save for porn and niche subs but after that glorious app I had used for ages finally died a few days ago I felt devastated. it was like losing an old friend. I hope reddit dies an even slower and more painful death
I joined kbin because of the upcoming "death" of Infinity for Reddit. Infinity still works for now, (for free, I mean. But after a while it will be subscription-based) but I joined kbin before the "death" of Infinity because WHY NOT :D
A distro and desktop environment recommendation for an old laptop (Read all of it, please.)

Two spyware sending data of more than 1.5M users to China were found in Google Play Store (securityaffairs.com)
Gboard is preparing to add an "Undo" function (t.me)
The official Reddit app on the Google play store has 3.3 stars. If you've used Reddit and don't agree with that rating, be sure give it your two cents! (lemmy.world)
Don’t want anyone browsing the Play Store to be misled!...
Haven't touched reddit since July 1st

So where are we all supposed to go now? (www.theverge.com)
Will Sync for Lemmy work for kbin?

The death of Sync for Reddit is what has made me join Lemmy
