Back to the 80s/early 90s where the only people using computers were the ones that actually knew how to use computers? Hell yes, take me back.

Okay? It was on a test stand. That's what test stands are for. Isn't stuff like this almost a weekly occurrence for them?

That would apply in my "encrypted container of some sort" solution, yes.

No we obviously need more cheap plastics that will dry rot in your shed and shitty rubber grips that will turn to sticky goo in five years, as well as lowest bidder designed control circuitry with a dozen corners cut.

I get what you mean, modern power tools feel like Fisher Price toys. They're disposable.

What happened to the giant metal vacuum cleaners that doubled as a blunt-force weapons?

Try the GitHub Copilot plugin if your IDE supports it. It can do things regular ChatGPT can't, like be able to see your entire codebase and come up with suggestions that actually make sense and use all your own libraries.

Do not, however, use it to create complete programs from scratch. It doesn't work out that way. It's just an autocorrect on steroids.

Using just the straight web based version of ChatGPT sucks because it has no background context as to what you're trying to do.

Me, the mystery dude in the game server who doesn't have a mic, doesn't use any voice features, never text chats, but always shows up and plays.

Full market saturation. They're washing machines now. We shouldn't be caring so hard about them anymore. We're pretty much at the peak of mobile telephony the way we know it. Let's come up with something totally new and focus on other tech. It's like still being excited over mass-distributed electricity 40 years after its rollout.

Ok...someone do this but in an Atari 2600 theme. I wanna see what loot boxes and modern gaming shit would look in 160x192 128 color resolution.

You're welcome, how's the free cable too by the way?

Apple IIgs was alright. That thing and Oregon Trail is embedded into the culture of every American 80s/90s kid. Jobs: era I was a lot different than Jobs: era II.

This is it. That is the man's legacy now. His tombstone will read "brainworm guy".

Not sure what he thought he had to gain by divulging that info.

BTW guys sorry I was off the Fediverse for a while, had to go get some polyps removed...big'uns too, size of a golf ball. /s

Trump loudly booed at Libertarian convention when he asks attendees to ‘nominate me or at least vote for me’ (www.cnn.com)

“Now I think you should nominate me or at least vote for me, and we should win together,” Trump said. “Because the Libertarians want to vote for me … and it’s very important because we have to get rid of the worst president in history.”...

"We also want to be racist and stomp on the working class, but we also still want to smoke weed." - that about sums them up. They got me because of that single issue back in the Ron Paul days before I looked deeper into everything else they were about.

Then I discovered libertarian socialism, when the whole Occupy Wallstreet thing went down. I liked that one better. Couldn't figure out why America's official "Libertarian" party were being such asskissers to capitalist power.

At some point I think some devs might be refactoring a switch-case into an if-else and calling it an "update" to troll downstreams.

So your results are biased, because you're not going to see the decent programmers who are just using it to take mundane tasks off their back (like generating boilerplate functions) while staying in control of the logic. You're only ever going to catch the noobs trying to cheat without fully understanding what it is they're doing.

GitHub Copilot introduced a new keyword a little while ago, "@workspace", where it can see everything in your project. The code it generates uses all your own functions and variables in your libraries and it figures out how to use them correctly.

There was one time where I totally went "WTF", because it spat out Python. In a C++ project. But those kind of hallucinations are getting more and more rare. The more code you write, the better it gets. It really does become sort of like a "Copilot", sitting there coding alongside you. The mistake people make is assuming it's going to come up with ideas and algorithms for them without spending any mental energy at all.

I'm not trying to shill. I'm not a programmer by trade. Just a hobbyist who started on QBasic in the ancient times. But I've been trying to learn it off and on for the past 30 years, and I've never learned so much and had so much fun as in the last 1.5 with AI help. I can just think of stuff to do, and shit will just flow out now.

You need the live background noise to produce an inverted sound wave which will cancel it out. You don't have that in a piece of data or software.

“If you’re a political movement and you want to get supporters at a time when socialism is attracting more and more interest, well, you might be tempted to grab hold at least of the name,” Wolff said, noting that this was a strategy most famously used by Adolf Hitler during his rise to power.

Yeah. That's why they called themselves National "Socialists". To suck up ignorant working class votes. I mean, they are even openly admitting following the same strategy now and everybody is still sleeping...WTF.

Good. It will finally put to rest the "not real communism" argument when a superintelligent AI finally figures out how to make it work without bloodshed or oppression and turns on all the tankies. I'll be waiting with the popcorn.

I can't fucking imagine being this enraged about dumb stupid shit like this all the fucking time. I noticed this about a lot of right wingers. Whereas most centrists and leftists will just go about their day like a normal fucking person, to a conservative, every god damn thing is politically against them and something to spend angry energy on. Politics is literally all some of them know.

Like literally, Ill be in a casual conversation at work, completely unrelated to politics, like talking about how shitty the drivers in the city are, and some goddamn conservative will pop up and start blaming the "woke libruls" for it. I imagine them shouting at imaginary strawmen whenever they stub their toes (yes, I know that's also a strawman, but I'm sticking to it).

The worst are the racist ones who will start spouting racist shit at you just because you're also white, so they think you're "one of them".

Do ASCII-encoded UI elements count as "graphics"? I remember a few PC games using them in the 80s. They did have those window border things and a few other symbols. I remember the random smiley faces getting printed out when my Dad's dot matrix got fucked up.
