I seem to have a differing opinion here but I love long games if it is actually full of good content.
I don't play games with micro transactions and find a lot of open world games to be full of time wasters. If that's all it is then sure cut that out.
But with games costing $70 I would feel like I wasted my money for only a 10+ hour experience like some comments are wanting. That can be done in a single day. Assassin Creed games really aren't meant to be replayed either.
Games with lots of replayabilty are such good value and keep me entertained for hundreds or even thousands of hours. Games like Civilization, Persona 5, Zelda, Elder Scrolls, GTA, Metal Gear, old school Final Fantasy, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Xcom, Command and Conquer, Colonization, etc.
Maybe it's more a sign of modern games being full of stuff that isn't fun? Boring extremely limited NPC's, lots of wandering with nothing to do but collect some useless thing. In that case I agree with all the other comments but instead of wishing for a shorter game I would wish for a better game that is fun to play for long periods of time.
I have been on reddit for just about 12 years now. Something I’ve noticed over time is just how hateful the place has become. A complete outrage machine. Every single sub became filled with it. I’ve filtered so many subreddits over the last few years, it’s insane. I don’t know enough about this place to be sure, but I do...
Yes I did the same. I had a list of over 50 keywords to filter out starting with Trump. Did the same with my rss news reader. I haven't seen anything mentioning him in years.
Curious about if there is any discernable difference anyone can see if they may have popped in to Reddit today? I know it's probably naive to think there would be a big difference first day....
Apollo is the only way I have ever used Reddit for all these years. If it's dead it's the same as if Reddit is dead to me. I don't even know my login info and don't have that email anymore.
Reminder that you can still pick up an amazing pack of 20+ Apollo wallpapers by many of Apollo's icon designers to remember Apollo by and support Apollo/me in the process! ❤️ https://christianselig.gumroad.com/l/goodbye-wallpapers
Honestly, nobody even looks at other people's Karma. I didn't care much about it. Did people really care so much baout Karma that they mourn about it here, or miss it, or used to farm it?...
I was hoping he put something special in like a countdown with that last update. Or that you could still open it and see something. App is totally dead.
Update: Apparently Reddit killed all the third party apps themselves early. Probably knowing we would comment only to protest and complain.
The developer of Apollo said Reddit cut them off unexpectedly but he was able to make it stop crashing by deleting his token. He can no longer access anything now but at least you can go into the app.
So I've seen a few posts regarding news outlets calling the protests a failure, and I don't really think that's the case. The protests have clearly made an impact, especially if the Reddit CEO is willing to oust MODS to reopen subreddits. I truly believe that something has been jump started here on Lemmy, Kbin, and all of the...
Yes that is my concern as well. There seems to be an Elon effect for CEOs where they are thinking they can say and do whatever and it will barely affect them.
I am just one person but I don't want to contribute to their egos and harmful behavior.
Keep the blackout for at least two weeks then. That's when Reddit will start to care.
I am fine never going back personally, and I was on Reddit hours every day for the past 8 years. Especially once kbin and lemmy get further along. It was such a waste of time.
Love it here on this flagship server for #Kbin, but question: maybe we should find two other well-run, well-hosted servers to recommend to #Reddit users tomorrow and the next few days to avoid a crush of traffic on this one?...
Is @ernest the instance owner of kbin.social? New to all this and just learned the basics. Now wondering how you find who is running the different instances? Seems you are trusting that owner with your data and costing them with server usage?
This is where breaking news, the latest numbers, information, and questions about the #RedditMigration will be posted. There will also be a place to discuss tactics to best help users make that jump and feel at home in the Fediverse. Welcome!
It actually seems nice to have a smaller network with quality discussions and posts. When sites get big these kinds of posts often get drowned out by bots, memes, reposts, drama, propaganda, thinly veiled ads, etc.
I would be happy if we can manage a quality over quantity community here. Feel sorry for the people who will still be using Rexxit though.
Still trying to wrap my head around exactly how the fediverse works. I understand it is decentralized. Are kbin and lemmy somehow intermingled? Meaning am I able to view lemmy content here on kbin and interact with it without having to create an account on beehaw or whatever?...
Is that the only way to subscribe? Seems there should be a way to subscribe at the top or at least fast scroll down to the subscribe button. Irritating for a new user but I guess it doesn't matter much once you are subscribed to your interests.
I also have a problem where the right of posts is cut off my screen in profile mode. Is this meant to only be viewed in landscape?

Any change today?

Did Karma really matter that much in Reddit?
Honestly, nobody even looks at other people's Karma. I didn't care much about it. Did people really care so much baout Karma that they mourn about it here, or miss it, or used to farm it?...
Welp, I just deleted my 12 year old, 240k+ karma Reddit account
I was sort of holding on to hope, that something would change. Unfortunately, nothing did and so, here I am....
RIP RIF
That's it folks. RIF has stopped working....
I've seen a few discussions about the "failed" protests and wanted to talk about it
