It's probably because I'm younger on the internet, but this is the biggest and liveliest migration event I've ever seen! It might be successful to the point that it won't be just a Reddit alternative, but an entire thing of its own, and if not, I personally already find this my new home. The community is better here anyway
I used to hate unprocessed fish with a passion, mostly because they were inconvenient, full of bones, and the taste was just not worth it. These days I'm starting to like it (especially milkfish) even if it wasn't deboned. I'm not even sure if I "love fish" right now, but my relationship with it is now better. Back then, I would simply refuse to eat if it was all we had on the table.
I think it has to do with the fact that users there get more engagement through arguing or agreeing with others than contributing to a discussion. It's like how one-liners, chains and jokes dominate the top comments in every post.
When I was a kid, our school had a library close by and I loved reading Encylopedias because I could just flip over a page and learn about something. Back then I didn't really have my own phone or a personal WiFi router (most people only used data or freebasics). "Articles of the Day" feature can't compete with the focused intention of opening a random page out of curiousity. At least, this was my experience as a kid born in the 2000s in the 3rd world.
Collapse comment thread?
Is there any way to collapse comments and their children in the interface? Seems like a fairly basic feature but I can't find it.
Reddit communities with millions of followers plan to extend the blackout indefinitely (www.theverge.com)

I know it's wishful thinking but I really hope all the media coverage of the protests will tank Reddits upcoming IPO.
I just bought the only physical encyclopedia still in print, and I regret nothing (arstechnica.com)
