HP says I should have known its £399 laptop bargain was too good to be true (www.theguardian.com)

[…] Parcelforce texted the delivery slot. No delivery. Parcelforce and HP’s tracking systems then claimed I had refused the parcel. I scheduled a redelivery for the next day. Parcelforce then rang me and the agent acknowledged a delivery had not been attempted and that the tracking information was false. It claimed HP had...

bioemerl,

HP Business laptops kick ass. Consumer non Apple laptops in general suck no matter the brand

bioemerl,

Temple OS is a operating system created by a crazy guy. It's called Temple OS because it is dedicated to Jesus, but the guy was a massive schizophrenic and ended up dying by committing suicide on a railway track couple years ago

bioemerl,

And when they say permanent they mean permanent until the next attack right?

bioemerl,

Their demand is the extermination of Jews from Israel. They will stop at nothing less.

From the river to the sea. They mean what they say.

bioemerl,

Also McDonald's works aren't exactly the ones who have gotten more productive.

bioemerl,

The US also spends more on those things per capita than other nations

bioemerl,

all that money and the US can’t even manufacture enough artillery shells

Yeah, we're also having trouble manufacturing muskets for the revolutionary war.

bioemerl,

The communists are policing speech? Who would have guessed

bioemerl,

Rape culture

Because someone said bitch and doesn't follow your orders?

Lol.

But you're also probably trolling

bioemerl,

Definitely trolling

bioemerl,

Open AI has been a farce ever since they disabled access to GPT3 for the sake of security.

bioemerl,

I'd say good riddance but the replacement is worse

bioemerl,

Big AI regulation fan.

bioemerl,

Do you want AI to exclusively be in the hands of big companies and the government?

Do you want the future of technology locked behind pay walls and censored so that you can't use it to do anything they don't want you to do?

If you think AI regulation comes in the form of making sure big companies can't do bad things to you, you haven't been paying attention.

bioemerl,

The fact that people are trying to push a windows manager that doesn't work with half the graphics cards out there is a hilarious sign that the Linux community is bad at desktops.

bioemerl,

Why the heck did the Linux community decide to move to a window manager that requires you control the graphics drivers instead of living atop them?

bioemerl,

that don’t work well with half of the current display servers/protocols

Works fine on Windows.

Works fine on X11.

And Nvidia cards actually work for stuff like CUDA and make up a much larger fraction of the market than AMD.

They also existed before Wayland.

The Linux community shot itself in the foot and decided to bitch about how Nvidia didn't fix it instead of fixing the problem directly.

bioemerl,

Wayland isn’t breaking anything, it’s new tech.

It started in 2009.

bioemerl, (edited )

"the problem lies within the drivers"

No, the devs created a system that is supposed to run on every computer before the drivers had any support for the thing they were making.

They didn't adapt to the situation. They demanded NVIDIA adapt to their choices instead. They demand nvidia open sources their driver when it was not open source to begin with.

And the fact they chose to code that way, and the fact the continue to not just.... Use the apis Nvidia provides already that could work indicates to me that they're arrogant and think the world should bend to their decision for what APIs graphics cards should provide.

Make. Your. Shit. Work. I don't want clean code. I don't want simple code. I don't want elegant code.

I want the literal foundation of the Linux desktop experience to work on the most common desktop graphics drivers.

Stop pointing fingers and fix the damn thing, or stop trying to push a new system on people before it's actually ready to be in production.

bioemerl,

2009 isn't new tech. They've had a literal decade.

bioemerl,

You first

bioemerl,

Well yeah, that would be catastrophic and it would also be either murder or hilariously repressive government control of reproduction
