Just read Ashton's letter. I thought it'd be way worse judging by some of the comments here, but it wasn't that bad actually. He didn't make excuses, just asked for leniency during sentencing. Also brought up a good point about Masterson's daughter being left without a dad.
Edit: Idk about Mila's letter though lol. It was awkwardly super focused on the drug-free stuff and no mention of the rapes.
Am from the California Bay Area. Not even surprised. There's also been news of local police failing psych exams during on-boarding and still getting hired. Uncovered during a state audit. There are all kinds of pandora's boxes out there — just have to look.
I don't like downvotes myself. It just creates hivemind. I see plenty of dissenting opinions on Lemmy(world) that are reasonably presented and in good faith, for example, that are overwhelmingly downvoted. Reminds me of the toxicity on Reddit. I'm going to be migrating soon to a different instance that doesn't allow downvotes actually, because I'm looking for a more level-headed, wholesome experience.
I had the same thought while out for groceries the other day. We have the Elysian pumpkin pack and Samuel Adams Octoberfest on Safeway shelves lol. Not sure about Bevmo. I should probably pay their import section a visit, actually. Not a fan of pumpkin, but I like some of the Oktoberfest beers.😁
Here's my thing. Still no HiFi when you can get it from Apple or Amazon at no extra charge. I'd have switched already if I wasn't too lazy to recreate my Spotify playlists.
So sick of these Puritanical laws dictating for all. And it’s not even just the Republicans. In Virginia, it was both sides supporting it. Good on PornHub for pushing back, but watch this shit become a domino effect.
I’ve had this conspiracy theory that Reddit saw the writing on the wall and plans to ban NSFW altogether. The first step was forcing users to their app and banning 3rd-party apps. Wild to see this come up in the news.
I just checked the perspectives tab, since I’m on mobile. I guess Google wants people to be less reliant on Reddit, but it’s like… User-generated content on Reddit vs. Twitter/Tiktok/Youtube are not the same? Usually I put “reddit” in the search bc I want a quick and well-informed text-based answer to something. That’s still going to be the easiest thing to do.
