Indeed, I was following your advice a few years ago, but started to say things like “1 modern game + 1 retro game” is fine, than I added handheld games as category of its own, and that’s how I failed to follow my mantra this year 😅. But it’s very rare I do not finish my games, even if it takes me 4 months playing the same games :).
Mario & Luigi surprised me a lot. I was a bit skeptical about a Mario RPG game, and I enjoy it much more than expected :). Oh and TOTK / FFTheathrythm are games difficult to quit, they are so good 😊.
I have done the same with Apollo announcement. I created my kbin account a few days before the blackout, just in case it would be to difficult to register during the blackout.
What helped me a lot was to look at a single eye, and not be afraid not to respond immediately (just a quick « let me think about it » + break eye contact + take 5-10 seconds before speaking again). Not perfect, but it’s much more manageable this way. If it’s a meeting with multiple people, I also tend to not look at the other people immediately (it feels easier to me to look at others while I am already « reciting »).
I cannot choose between Diablo 2 LOD, Age of Empire 2 and Counter Strike 1.5. Multiplayer with my friends online was really an awesome experience at the time :).
FF Thearythm & Zelda TOTK on Switch, Baten Kaitos on GC, and Mario & Luigi Superstar saga on GBA (only short games of course :p). Oh and I am also playing Pokemon Stadium 2 on N64 😅.
Jokes aside, I started too many games this time, I am not generally this busy ^^.
That’s exactly why I mainly play on PC nowadays. I didn’t like PC gaming 10-15 years ago, but now I love being able to play at 4K60 / 1440p60 by downgrading settings I don’t care.
I think this particular Zelda is especially focused on exploration (unlike the next ones until BOTW). There are many secrets everywhere, with a lot of hints given by the NPCs. When I did it for the first time 10 years ago, I had explored so much that I completed the 3 last dungeons in a raw.
If you don’t want to experience it this way, I guess you should follow a guide.
I stopped using Reddit a few days before the blackout. I miss a few subreddits I was following, but using Reddit again though their app is such a bad experience, I don’t think it’s worth it. I hope some communities can grow again here :).
