This really needs to be fixed ASAP before things get out of hand. Usernames also if they aren't already.

I feel like I never hear people talking about this show, but The Knick (TV Series 2014–2015), might be one of the greatest pieces of television ever created. (www.imdb.com)

Ok so let’s start off by saying that I am not an expert in all things TV. I have no formal ‘critic’ training. But you know what? I know what I like. And I like the Knick....

I understand what you're saying, but in the broader scheme of the internet we should have the ability to dictate what of our data and actions get broadcast and therefore able to be mined by advertisers or other nefarious entities. This is actually a hugely important idea in fighting the corporatization of the internet. We need to stop letting mega corps build profiles on us based on our clicks.

I still don't really understand what your dissatisfied with. You said something about people downvoting too much? Say you see someone who is downvoting in a way you don't like. What is your recourse? Why do you want that information?

eatmoregreenfood,

I'd say definitely go ahead and make m/gettingstarted or whatever you name it and edit this post. Centralized location for this information would be convenient

Link didn't work. Not sure how to quick link to zines. Use this
https://kbin.social/m/gettingstarted

Did block. Still annoying. What is the kbin solution for obvious spam bots? If say the instance gets overran you can't block a thousand accounts and still use the medium effectively. There has to be some sort of back end oversight on this

Long and short term, which features would you like to see implemented?

For me flair is probably the most important. I follow a lot of organized sports and being able to quickly identify which team someone supports helps the conversation move along without having to write "as a fan of..." in every single comment. And this isn't a like talking shit, sports guy thing. It's genuinely extremely useful...

Point 1 is paramount. 5 is important also from a tech standpoint. The rest are very good points.

We should have the ability to manage what of our data goes out to the internet/advertisers/scrapers/other users. Non negotiable.

eatmoregreenfood,

Advertiser makes a user account that is a bot for harvesting data. Now it isn't between human users anymore. And more than that I don't think I want people I don't know having access to information I don't want them to have access to.

What about queer person wanting to upvote something but not feeling safe if someone knows their username? What about a woman living in a place with abortion bounties wanting to upvote something about how to get help, but being afraid to?

As someone who worked briefly in television production you always wonder if stuff like this is staged.

Resources for reading about healthy experimentation in the bedroom?

I'm pretty well versed in the bdsm culture, but I've always wanted to read more literature on the subject. Are there any deep dives or even academic papers to look at? Specific subject matter can be whatever, but I'm mostly curious about articles that delve into WHY some people enjoy BDSM and others don't.

Yooooo what up fellow person who went to college in Florida. Also, thanks for the link! Definitely something I'll look at

Meh. I used reddit since about a year after its launch. I noticed the last two days my thumb reaching for the reddit app on my home screen. But then I pause, remember I deleted rif, and just log into kbin and try to be active. Right now sorting by new has been amazing. Lots of new magazines (shout out to the one I made tvsuggestions).

I think you can get the reddit dopamine hit by being active on kbin. Investigate! Explore the site! Make a zine!

The plus side is I'm using it way less than reddit while simultaneously being way more active on the medium. Win win

There will be. For now the mobile version is usable. I just threw a link to it where RiF used to be. But yeah stay at it. The more engaged we are the more need for a polished mobile app there will be. Donate, use the medium, etc. Mobile app can't possibly be too far out.

Yeah hopefully the content here is better. I imagine it will be

Nice! Just found this zine sorting by new. I'm not a rope person (not opposed just not super knowledgeable). But I read the rules of this zine and hopefully this will become a great community.

Hm, what is a benefit of that? Non power users just not fucking shit up?

Also, I have a monster windows PC I built for work (4k and 6k video editing), but I'm probably going to buy a laptop here in a week or so. Just for writing and streaming video in my bedroom. Any suggestions on a simple distro for that? Just need stability, a notepad-like app, and the ability to use a browser, a VPN, and solid video rendering.

Will definitely check that list

NSFW images should be blurred by default

Although I would like to NSFW content in my timeline, I think its better to have them blurred by default and only visible if I click on it. And any such post from NSFW subreddits should also be blurred by default. Saying this because I noticed a post from a NSFW subreddit in the front-page and it was displayed without any...

eatmoregreenfood,
eatmoregreenfood avatar

Well, I'd prefer sexual content not blurred but people dying or otherwise getting horrifically wounded to be blurred.

Ugh I hate to hear that dude. Hope she's all good these days
