heyda,

@cordlessmodem thanks for sharing! I have this queued up to watch tonight. Link works fine for me.

heyda, to 3dprinting

Does anyone have experience with a handheld 3d scanner under ~$1000 that isn't garbage or effectively e-waste that they would recommend?

heyda,

@HewlettHackard thanks for the link! I hadn't heard of that one, will definitely check it out.

@layers

heyda,

@OrangeCorvus

Next I took around 50gigs of footage and threw it on the same timeline, stacked it 4-5 times and indeed it was slow but it was because Davinci was caching stuff, when it finished the playback was super smooth.

this is the part that wouldn't be slow with fast remote storage and 10gbe networking. it's fast after because it's cached locally but the idea is that initial scrub would also be fast.

heyda,

@tonystark29 very cute rack! was it hard printing those long, flat, thin pieces without curled edges? what printer do you have?

heyda,

@Perry came here to say this. Jetbrains does a great job with their vcs integration. I use cli most of the time but if I need to poke around or visualize something those tools work great.

W Series Finally Collapses After Entering Administration (wtf1.com)

A sad day in the world of motorsport and everyone hoping for more female participation in it. After several months of radio silence from W Series since its third season abruptly ended, it appears to be the end for the all-female championship as administrators were called into the business yesterday. It had cancelled the final...

heyda,

@ymhr yeah I kind of feel like the academy is a step down in terms of visibility and competition (especially being f4 level). Their races were televised live and had more viewership than f3 and f2 some weekends.

The academy gets a post race highlight, and very little press.

Not saying either series is the silver bullet, I think I'd rather see more female drivers supported in the main series at a high level.

OK, who can recommend a domain name registrar that:

  • Is boring and dependable and has a rock solid track record
  • Has a really good UI, including on mobile
  • Supports as many TLDs as possible
  • Isn't likely to get acquired by someone else
  • Ideally supports multiple payment methods as insurance against accidental card expiry

I'd settled on Google Domains... but they just sold themselves to Squarespace! https://9to5google.com/2023/06/15/google-domains-squarespace/

heyda,

@simon namecheap has been rock solid for years and has all the good tlds.

I kind of hate how everyone rushed to re-create all the subreddits as magazines but they're nearly all just sitting there empty.

but you're a mod now right? cool!

heyda,

@PrinceHabib72 yeah this is what I'm worried about

heyda,

@Sabata11792 it just feels like a kind of gross version of squatting. Not actually interested in making and moderating that community, just taking some kind of ownership over the name. And gatekeeping people who might actually want to bootstrap that community.

heyda,

@JoeKewl it's a progressive web app, your browser detects the manifest and offers to make a sandbox version on your homescreen.

@HooptyDooDooMeister @EnderWi99in @Zana

heyda,

@ernest I appreciate the transparency on this. Don't beat yourself up too much though, we all make mistakes and this one is easily fixable with attribution.
