I hear you. People have very little pain/change tolerance. Humans want things easy the first time. Those who stick around the fediverse have higher pain tolerance. They are more cognitively flexible. They are principled. There's a short time of adjustment that one has to tolerate.
I'm thankful for all those who have the strength to say "NO" to the likes of /spez. It's a small thing but it shows some determination and character.
Reddit used to be a great platform to discuss some topic and get different points of few in a friendly but factual manner. However, slowly it seems like the platform has become a lot more like Facebook, where it's been invaded by toxic people that are constantly looking for opportunities to shit and hate on others....
These burgeoning communities are rough around the edges. But as @dan96kid said, there's space for us to speak up, rather than simply lurk. I'm getting a kick out of this disruption.

Good conversations on kbin, Lemmy, Squabbles, et al. I think there's a new feeling of solidarity and ownership with these new (to some of us) forums. I'm here for it.

I have a Patreon that pays my bills and puts food on the table. Generally, I give the majority of my stuff away for free to the community, but that usually comes...
It's important to start well. We're building a foundation for the future here. Positive convo's and meaningful moderation go hand in hand. I appreciate it.
I think fatherhood is less about the child and more about parenting yourself. Watch how you respond to your little one. Sooth and calm yourself. Look after yourself. Treat your child like you would like to be treated. Model peace. And honor your child for they will soon be an adult.
When your child reaches adulthood you want to be able to appreciate memories of self-sacrifice, personal growth, laughter, and fun. You will influence your child. And your child will influence you.
One day they will strike out on their own. And you will have been changed forever because of that beautiful little independent part of you.
I'm waiting to see how this plays itself out. They did Apollo and its users wrong. I'm looking for a major reversal. The federation looks pretty promising. kbin is great.
I have been joking to a couple of friends today who were also redditors that I've been feeling withdrawals from reddit throughout the day. Like I knew I was addicted, I just never thought I was going to have to face the consequences of withdrawals!...
Yes, it's crazy that leadership violated user's wishes. old.reddit and Apollo were amazing. It was straight-up a feed of my interests. LaTeX, unixporn, neovim, sportsball, NotKenM... dozens of interests in one place.
But, they did it. They spezzed out. So off we went. I'll miss it. It was the best central location for news... my news. Sucks.
The world can be a pretty strange place, but it's good to look back and find at least one thing that was good to you today. Be that a nice conversation, a cool picture you saw, a song you heard... whatever! But if you didn't find anything good today, here's your sign: go do one thing for you, right now. I'm really looking forward to buying a Moonlander. And the weeks of adjustment and building muscle memory will no doubt hurt. But it seems so ergonomic and body friendly.
