I think this will just strengthen the hardcase conspiracists, and whatever platforms choose to continue to have him. I'm not sure that this really accomplishes anything, and may even be counter-productive.
Maybe I’m just not that online, but I think people believe all sorts of dumb things anyway. I think that for people that can be reasonable at all, which isn’t everyone, indifference is a harsher condemnation of dumb ideas than trying to hide them. I sought out the comments in question only after hearing they were banned.
I definitely recommend reading the whole series. Agreed that some passages are slow or just obscure due to the style, but I found it quite enriching. I think this is one of these where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, though.
I loved it! Haven't seen many people talk about it outside of whatever initial recommendation list I had heard it from. I really enjoyed the mix of hard sci-fi and socio-political commentary. Really reminiscent of Heinlein's best in that aspect, from what I recall.
I'm in the middle of yet another reread of Glen Cook's Black Company series, just finished the 2nd one. Decided to take a break from the series with something I don't normally read - mysteries. Reading Agatha Christie's first Poirot novel and having a great time.
I do get that feeling from hearing Max's interviews - he does love racing, but has a rather professional demeanor much of the time. And a lot of the other drivers are like him in that regard, at least from what I can tell. (Well, maybe except Kimi late in his career, when it was just a hobby.)
Been listening a lot during work, which lends itself to a bit less aggression. Voivod and Mastodon are my go-tos recently, and on walks I’ve been liking Hoth.
Finished Elden Ring today after bouncing off pretty hard upon initial release. Enjoyed it overall, but its specific type of open-world content delivery is just not my cup of tea, I think. Also, felt that it dragged in the last third.
