Hey all, I recently left reddit like many of you. I have a question regarding lemmy and the fediverse on the history of banning and defederation. I have noticed several posts calling for varying communities to be disconnected. were these removal requests as prevalent before the mass migration? Usually I am all for communities...
After years of reddit/twitter/facebook propping up fascism/bigotry with algorithms & bots I'm honestly surprised and relieved to be in an online space that clearly rejects their ideology....
So I've seen a few posts regarding news outlets calling the protests a failure, and I don't really think that's the case. The protests have clearly made an impact, especially if the Reddit CEO is willing to oust MODS to reopen subreddits. I truly believe that something has been jump started here on Lemmy, Kbin, and all of the...
Precisely how I feel on it. Would it have been magical if the protest resulted in every last user leaving reddit behind for better alternatives? Of course. But that was never something I thought was likely. However, it's caused a lot of us who were already unhappy to leave and come over to the Fediverse, and I do think that's a success.
Good for him.
Also, reading the sexual harassment comment from the "unnamed A-list celebrity" made my jaw drop. I completely get why Elliot can't name who it is, but damn, I wish there was a safe way to leak it so we know who that bastard is 🤮👿
What happens when we report someone via the "Show Report Dialog" shown in the post? Does the report go only to the community mod or does it also go to the instance admin?...
That happened to me too, I was replying to someone and when I hit the 'add comment' button it said 'report created'. Like, nooo! I was just trying to have a nice convo about a kitty! 😭

If you were given a choice between a fancy boat or a fancy car, which would you pick? You can't sell either.
I'm not sure yet about my answer

I've felt more compelled to contribute to the "Fediverse" than I ever did on Reddit.
Over the last week or so I have noticed that I have a lot more fun engaging in discussions on here as opposed to reddit....
I've seen a few discussions about the "failed" protests and wanted to talk about it

😈 Please don't be profane on Reddit folks 😈 (sh.itjust.works)
Please, people. Be reasonable and considerate of Reddit's need to make money. It is, afterall, spez's main focus.
