such_lettuce7970, to linux in What was your first distribution?
such_lettuce7970 avatar

A PowerPC version of Ubuntu (I forget now the exact version or year but it was sometime around 2005ish) that I ran from a live CD on my G4 Mac Mini.

First I actually installed and used seriously was Ubuntu 12.04 on an old PC.

Us retrogamers are gamers too, and there's a ton of great emulators on Linux.

Kbin (I'm on kbin.social) allows users to block entire instances, rather than leaving that entirely up to admins.

such_lettuce7970, to programming in Fedora or Mint in 2023...or whatever
    such_lettuce7970 avatar

I like Mint. I've been a Linux user for a long time, and Mint has so many little refinements and doesn't get in my way - of course a lot of that is Cinnamon, but hey, they 're the originators of that too. Plus I'm used to apt at this point. I also find it easy to customize the way I like (nothing too crazy, just a bit): https://imgur.com/a/wPxLPkb

such_lettuce7970, to kbinMeta in How to block an instance on a personal level?
    such_lettuce7970 avatar

I can help: say for example, you want to block lemmygrad.ml - go to kbin.social/d/lemmygrad.ml (d for "domain") and from there you can block the whole instance (click on the ๐Ÿšซ).

    The letters are satisfactory.

such_lettuce7970, to lemmy in What's the difference between Lemmy and Kbin?
    such_lettuce7970 avatar

Kbin lets the user block entire servers, not just communities.

Haven't really delved into Mastodon so not sure how that works but you can definitely interact with kbin communities ("magazines") same as you do with Lemmy communities.

For example, I see your account is at midwest.social, so try this link as an example: midwest.social/c/tech@kbin.social
