IMO, it's to maximize profits (obviously), but now it's that they've realized they're allowed to fuck people over with not much retaliation once they've gotten their monopoly. A push towards worse and worse social media has been happening this past decade; this time, it just happened to be your (and our) tipping point :)

OC How did you end up finding kbin? Did you migrate here from Reddit?

I was initially introduced to Mastodon a few years ago by a close friend and picked up on it quickly given the benefits of not having to deal with advertising, or being shown what a mega-corporation thought I should have to see through algorithms. Impressive :) I've found high-strength VPSes don't get too far though. For 67EUR, you could certainly get a decently meaty dedi and I think it'd be a great start.

Art! I suck at drawing, but I like to try. I'm much more of a musician, and it does me so well, it's damn euphoric. An instrument tends to cost money though... still, look into it :) i LOVE singing and trumpet and guitar and piano. AMAZING hobby to get into.
