I'm a bit confused at the explosive growth of Lemmy and the slower growth of Kbin. Do the stats reflect the reality or is there a problem with the data being fed back to the various stat hubs?...
I mean it's great to offer feedback. But I agree that anything close to some weird ultimatum on like, two people, for their own pet project is a bit much guys. I know we're all better than that!
reddit was amazing a decade ago. dunno what all happened but it became a cesspool of toxicity and abuse of power that i was just waiting for another alternative to come along and save us OGs from.
It's not that I don't remember all the trolling that has happened since the Internet's inception (I was there) it's just that it used to have its time and place and people used to respect that, Reddit included. If you didn't want to see the toxicity, you just didn't visit those subs. It only started bleeding into everything else within the recent past.
I, much like basically everyone here, have been avoiding Reddit when possible, and the content here just doesn't hit the same. My fried dopamine receptors were certainly screaming for stimulation early on but now I feel an urge to touch grass and breathe fresh air. What is this? Am I dying? I still hate the angry lightbulb in...
I've been seeing a lot of pro-reddit, anti-mod comments, despite tens of thousands of up votes on Reddit blackout posts. Pro-reddit comments also have a ton of gold for some reason....
yup, i am here because third party apps or no, Reddit was just a horrible place to be anymore. i'm loving the 'wild wild west' of similar apps and a new social network i'd never experienced before.
After weeks of burning through users’ goodwill, Reddit is facing a moderator strike and an exodus of its most important users. It’s the latest example of a social media site making a critical mistake: users aren’t there for the services, they’re there for the community. Building barriers to access...
lol yep it's funny: Reddit is unironically saving the Internet. It's become pretty much 3-5 main sites and that's it. In the 90s I had about a million different forum bookmarks, chat rooms and communities I was a part of. i'm feeling very comfortable having kicked reddit out of my life and gone back to that.
I introduced kbin to someone today who asked what the fediverse was. I answered for them of course, but it made me realize that the concept is still technobabble for most people. The average joe probably doesn't care or notice that server A is really talking to server B. Just have them find out on their own and if a mass...
Infamous power mod got permabanned without explanation, then have a public meltdown. (lemmy.ml)
This is the first time in about 15 years that he will finally see the sunlight.

Why is Kbin seemingly growing considerably slower than Lemmy?
I'm a bit confused at the explosive growth of Lemmy and the slower growth of Kbin. Do the stats reflect the reality or is there a problem with the data being fed back to the various stat hubs?...
Be patient! We'll get there eventually.
I see a lot of comments pointing out bugs and saying something along the lines like "they need to fix this ASAP, otherwise... something something"....
Reddit Communities Switching to NSFW as a Form of Protest (stackdiary.com)
This feels like a forced reddit detox.

I miss Reddit's size
I know Kbin will grow in time but I miss how huge Reddit was.
let's cut the "Reddit" circle jerk and start actually making content
Not that it is not interesting but I would like just a tad more variety on the front page....
The Reddit Blackout Is Breaking Reddit (www.wired.com)
Anti-mod brigading going on within reddit?

[REPOST] You can't continue working from home because you go idle in chat too often
[REPOST]...
Isn't it ironic.... that we all left reddit because 3rd party apps were being killed off, and came to a place where there are no 3rd party apps.

Did you reuse your Reddit name or create a new one?
I originally went with the same name but have been using this one now since it's new and the idea of starting fresh appeals to me....

Ripples Through Reddit as Advertisers Weather Moderators Strike (www.adweek.com)
Reddit is redirecting some impressions away from existing communities, and some advertisers are pausing campaigns.
Google is getting a lot worse because of the Reddit blackouts (www.theverge.com)
A Reddit result in Google might take you to a private page now
So what corners have redditors gathered to during the blackout?
Here (kbin), Lemmy, Tildes... I hear Mastodon had a user spike. Is there something obvious I'm missing?...
When introducing members to kbin/lemmy don't mention the fediverse!
